I wonder if we just turned off our devices and tv for a while and worked with those closer to home for a while, helping each other, we would not be so lost. I had a great time at my latest wild food dinner and it proved that there is a lot of free food around (not just for me). Everyone who attended is a future resource. We even had a few newbies. Become as self sufficient as possible so as to not become a future slave of the government. Get out of debt. Go to town and county meetings. Stick our noses into school board meetings. We elect those nerfballs thinking they will vote as we want and then don't keep telling them what we want. They know the silent majority gets tired after a little bit of noise. Trump's following is worrying some because it is ongoing. Fundraising with his mugshot chotchkies. They were talking about it being illegal?
Many years ago, when I used to watch football, I remember Joe Gibbs being asked what he looked for in players. He said, in increasing order of importance were 3. Talent, 2. Intelligence, and 1. Character. I thought that was an interesting selection criteria.
I don't think that character is all we have left. I think that character is all that has ever mattered. We just keep losing sight of it. You know, when I hear disparaging remarks about groups/classes/generations/etc, I think about my interactions with real people in real life, and I cannot come up with any examples to support the B.S. that we are fed.
I say that my Dad told me a lot of things that I carry with me because they sure are true. He would tell me about people"word being good",I took it to mean that if that person said something you could take it to the bank that it was true. Also"Cash on the barrelhead"and I took that to mean always pay in cash. And that you could tell a lot about a person's handshake. That is what I say.
The day you are willing to lose everything is the day you have found freedom. That is the day you can no longer be controlled.
Character, I feel like mine is good. However it took me 75 years to get to this point. But when all else is lost? Hope is the only thing left really.
One of my favorite movies is “Fight Club”. The whole movie is about pretty much that topic. Here is a dialog that kind of summarizes it. Ed Norton’s character’s apartment just exploded from gas and he lost everything he owns. DIALOGUE IS NOT WORK SAFE
My Aunt was my phycological idol, born in 1905, lived to be 100. " sometimes its cruel to be kind ", "never a beggar or a borrower be".
I think the definition of ' character ' has changed. Any of you ever heard the short 8-minute Davy Crocket story,' Not yours to give '? I think government sponsored welfare is what took down America, Rand Pasul tells the story in front of con-gress.
