This woman has has appointments around the states in different venues. I missed the one in my town, (sold out) so I went to one in Kellnersville, Wi. Never heard of the place before but maybe that is because it has a population of 320. This huge hall attatched to a bar, large restaurant with basketball court flooring all around was in this tiny town. Plenty of parking. It was kind of funny but I guess they draw a lot of weddings etc from Green Bay and Appleton, among other places. I thought it would be interesting to go with my youngest and, although we didn't feel the need to 'hear from' anyone, we wanted to see how it went. Two hours brought about only 6 contacts. And one of the attendees kept being called on but she replied negatively to all info. She was wearing a faux leopard coat which I think drew attention more than the spirits. I felt kind of bad for her as the psychic went back to her three times only then to go to people near her. Mostly the experience was showmanship. but two were impressive. One woman started sobbing when the psychic was finishing up and said the woman's mother said, " oh, and I am no longer cold".
I didn't completely understand your post @mary, but my brain may not be operating at full capacity today. Was the psychic successful in contacting spirits or whatever? Were people impressed? I know one thing about small midwestern towns. My wife was raised in one and there is always at least one bar or tavern in every one, even if only a few people actually live there. I gotta say, often the food is wonderful, but they may only have one or two specialties on the menu.
There were only 3 readings I was impressed with. I am not sure if the other three impressed their receivers. Yes, you are right about small midwestern towns.
So this was more or less a charge-you-admission show and not individual private readings? I take it you could not sign up for a reading, you just got randomly called on. I had wanted to dabble in that field but could never find a decent book on "cold reading," which is the skill "psychics" use to pick up on personal things from complete strangers. Wiki has a decent explanation of cold reading. I wonder if your "psychic" used some of those techniques. My real motive was to learn it for contract negotiations and other stuff in business, but I never followed through.
I called the Psychic Hotline Network for a reading. She said, "I see a really big phone bill in your future."
In case you're interested howie mandel has a pod cast on youtube. I started watching one where he and his daughter were interviewing psychic john edwards. I only watched the first 10 minutes. It's rather long over an hour but it was very interesting and I intended to go back with my wife and finish watching, she is a fan of John Edward's.
Try the French Quarter of New Orleans, there are many in Jackson Square. Certainly, many are buskers intent on squeezing tourists of their cash, but there remain a small number who can impress.
We actually have two in the area I would like to go see. But I am not sure I am up to a reading as I don't want to hear what my folks have to say about my progress. My daughter and I just went to a show to see how they went and for something different.
