As you can tell from my avatar I'm into crocheting! I'm a retired scopist, married with 1 daughter, 3 grandkids, and 1 great granddaughter. I'm not a fitness junkie, but I do work out at a gym 3 times a week. I am also interested in genealogy. I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone!
Hi Jane..I'm not a scopist, at least I don't think I am, widowed with 3 living sons,1 dead 1, 1 dead daughter, 14 grand kids, 7 beach variety, about 12 great grands, live in Kennebunk, ME. Hope you enjoy it here. My avatar is not a naked me! I had just had a cold shower and tested my new razor and like a lot of seniors was not concerned with the effect on other people when I took picture.
Howdy and a tip-o-the-hat Jane!! My wife crochets and we also hit the gym just about every other day. I’m sure everyone would be interested in some of the more bizarre cases you have witnessed in court that is, if you’re so inclined to write about them. Have a wonderful day Jane and again, welcome to SoC !
Jane! Nice to meet you. I have a small hobby farm in Wisconsin. Three daughters and a nice hubby, just broke in good. I had to look up scopist. I used to crochet and embroider but haven't lately. We all need to do some exercise to keep our bods working.
Being a scopist I was never in court. I received the transcript via email along with the audio recording and corrected the transcript to eliminate all "bad translations" that occurred in the court reporter's program. And there were a LOT of bad translations! I was responsible for typing every single word exactly as spoken, even stuttering (I ca-ca-ca-can't remember) and phrases repeated over and over. Actually, most of the court cases were really boring, but it was very entertaining when the lawyers got into a verbal battle, which happens a lot. What was hard was when a defendant was a non-English speaking person and needed a translator, or tried to answer questions with a heavy accent. Unfortunately, I can't write about any individual cases as I am bound by the same confidentiality standards and ethics as the court reporter. But some cases were upsetting, especially when concerning children. That's when I'd go sit on the couch and start crocheting to relax my mind.
Namaste Jane, welcome from Nevada. I think you will like it here. Many great topics to choose from, lots of bright nice people, and almost always fun. Great learning experiences too! I have only been here a little over a month and already learned a lot. Take care, John.
