My wife spotted this pic, called me over. It was so shocking in scope, I asked her to put it in email, then I could copy and show it here. I was dumbfounded. It's burning around Lake Isabella, northeast of Bakersfield, CA. She thinks this is the one reported to have destroyed over 100 structures. There must be thousands of individual fires burning on the mountainside. I have never seen a fire of quite this magnitude before. I saw that yesterday. It's been hotter than usual I think in southern CA. Plus dry and drought conditions don't help. We have fires every year, although this pic is scary looking it's not uncommon in CA.
It looks like a volcano with the firey lava flowing all around it. I feel really sad for all the people losing their homes because of this fire...and I hope their are no lives lost. Thanks for sharing that picture @Frank Sanoica, it's terrible what's happening but it is a beautiful picture.
OMG! The looks of it got me worried so much. I know its kinda far from the place of some dear relatives back there in CA, but I still better check again with them. Thanks Frank. I have no idea this was so enormous. I just heard about it from the news and thought it was just some easily gone occasional forest fire.
Wow, that is awful. I know some people who chat online on a different site who were talking about those fires yesterday. It seems to be quite the event. I hope they can be controlled quickly, but massive wildfires are something that California deals with every year it seems. It just seems to come with the territory.
Yes, that is a horrible fire. I feel for the people who have lost everything and have to start over. All of their pictures and sentimental items are gone.
