We are heading into one very terrific weekend here in northern Colorado. Today, high of 70, tomorrow 66, Saturday 75 and Sunday 77. We will be some 20 degrees above normal this coming weekend. I was very surprised to find out yesterday, that the boat ramps at local lake will open for boating season tomorrow (Friday). Concrete ramp barriers/cones will be removed and new dock available. Of course, the water in the lake will be very cold, but young people here don't care. They will just dawn a wetsuit and hit the tube. I was told the ice on the lake has all melted due to temps we've been having lately. Ramps opening is rather funny, being that it was snowing pretty heavily this last Tuesday in the afternoon. Nothing stuck, but it was definitely coming down. Our boat isn't ready at all for the lake and we won't take it into the marine service for "summerization" until after Mother's Day Weekend. Colorado is very known to have snow on Mother's Day Weekend and we've seen it happen.
Still a bit cold here--into the 20s and 30s F. at night and into the upper 30s and low40s F. during the day. Still lots of snow.
My wind chill hit freezing today (been a bite in the air all day long) and the wind chill is gonna hit the lower 20s tonight.
All the snowcover WAS gone, but it's been snowing since dark and is accumulating. Supposed to get a couple inches or so. High of 27 Sunday, low of 10 at night.
Quite a lot of our snow is gone. Paths that were once a couple of feet wide are now four or five feet wide, and there is a melted base around trees, planters, and most other objects.
After this weekend, and Monday, we will return to somewhat of "winter" again, but no snow in the forecast. Was going to put on our shorts yesterday, but decided not to. People here don't want anymore winter! Yesterday evening, after I put our Durango in the garage, I smelled some smoke from a wildfire burning just south of Boulder. Evacuations had already been ordered. Hope the smoke smell is gone by tomorrow, because we need to go to grocery store and Home Depot.
Both Friday and Saturday were sunny days high in the 60s. You would think beautiful days. No! Winds 20 mph gusting to 35 all day long. Nothing outside would stay put including lawn chairs, bird seed, and hats. At the store parking lot I almost got a ding trying to load groceries while the door wouldn't stay open and the cart kept blowing toward the truck.
We had our first day in quite a while with temps above freezing for 24 hours, but it is back to sunny warm days into the 40s F. and down toe the low 20s F. at night, a more normal situation. Still lots of snow on the ground and we haven't had any new fall recently.
Jeepers! It was cold this morning. Not just the temperature cuz that was merely 16f. The wind from the NW was nearly blowing me over especially carrying the empty manure bucket which then worked like a billowing sail!
