For the last several months, I have been knitting a pair of socks for my sister-in-law and her daughter, and just finished them and got the package put in the mail last week. I paid extra for the 2-day delivery, and the lady at the post office assured me that Debbie would have her socks by Saturday. That day was even her birthday, so I was especially happy that the socks would arrive by then. On Saturday, she messaged me a little sad face and said the socks didn't arrive. I thought it was probably because of the Thanksgiving holiday, and said most likely they would be there by Monday. By Tuesday, the socks still hadn't arrived, so I checked the USPS tracking, and they had been sitting at 2-3 post offices in California, but were finally in Washington, near Seattle, which is almost to where Debbie lives. I still hadn't heard from her that she got her socks, so tonight I checked the tracking number again, and guess what.............. They sent those socks BACK to California, and they are now in some little suburb of Los Angeles called Bell Garden ! ! This is total insanity ! ! Pony Express could have delivered those socks to Debbie by now. Okay, the ranting and raving and gnashing of teeth is over now. Sorry for the outburst, and I will try to resume normal programming again.......thanks for listening to me, everyone.
Perhaps Santa snagged them and will get the credit for delivery on Christmas morn. Or, Pelosi kidnapped them and won't give them back until you sign up for AARP. Or, since this is the second time the derned post office has charged us for two day delivery (socks also) and didn't deliver for over a week, they are running a scam to ramp up funding for their executive Christmas party in Vegas this year. or....maybe ............like Joe said.........
Dang it, anyway! Where's my pension check? Always arrives at least a day before the 1st.! Just my luck........... Frank
@Bobby Cole Our mail service here is evidently "farmed out" to a contractor for delivery, and pick-up. We live on XX XX CIRCLE, a neighbor with the same number lives on XX XX COVE. He often gets a piece of our mail, and we, his. Only place I've lived where a problem like this has happened. The 2 pension checks have never, so far, gone astray. Tomorrow will tell the tale. Frank
OMG Joe, LOL!! Yvonne just might wop you for that one, LOL!! And I know what you're thinking, "or" she might "sock" you?? Was I right, LOL!!
I just checked again this morning, and they are still stuck in LA. It says the package is "delayed"........... well, YES, that part is obvious ! I think they are now at the "Hotel California" , and can "check out any time you want, but you can never leave"........
Yeah, we had that problem too at one time. I had to think about my previous comment concerning your pension check and Yvonne's socks. Much to my chagrin I am somewhat intimidated by the idea that my wife's socks could have taken a trip to California with a pensioner. It is indeed a shameful thing but perhaps the Debbie socks will see the light and go where they were first intended to go instead of holding up in some back room at the post office or in a hotel.
