Both my father and my maternal uncles had long curls and dresses in their earliest pictures. Once of my uncles still had long sausage curls at five. Back in ancient times they dressed baby boys like girls to fool the evil spirits who were looking for boys to steal away. Since baby girls were so lowly valued, they figured the evil spirits wouldn't interested in a worthless girl and would pass on to better hunting grounds.
