The facts seem few, and it's unclear whether anyone was actually shot, despite being initially reported as an active shooter situation. Apparently some were attacked with a knife, and a vehicle apparently also plowed into a crowd of people evacuating, possibly injuring a police officer. This is the second report I've seen, and neither has had a lot of information, although this one is a bit more fleshed out.
It was a stabbing with a knife and, as stated above, a vehicle plowing into a crowd of people. The "shooting" heard was law enforcement shooting at suspect. Suspect is dead, either by law enforcement or self-inflicted.
@Gary Ridenour That was at Kent State (not OSU). May 4, 1970. Four students protesting Vietnam war were shot and killed by Ohio National Guard, others injured. Incident today at OSU was a random guy who drove a car into people then got out and stabbed several. (11 people injured) Suspect was shot and killed by campus police officer. No similarities other than occurrences on 2 different college campuses in same state 46 years apart.
@Gary Ridenour fair enough. Glad all the victims are okay. I live in Columbus area; (Go Bucks!) it's been on news all day. Get this: the story is that the attacker was upset awhile back because (he felt) there should be more prayer rooms. scratching my head ................
"That was at Kent State (not OSU). May 4, 1970. Four students protesting Vietnam war were shot and killed by Ohio National Guard, others injured." As I remember it, the students killed were unarmed, and the provocation causing the shooting was that one (or more), of the students gave the Guardsmen the "finger". Pretty sad commentary, if true. Frank
Don't know about the finger thing, never heard that....I suspect someone made that up......lots of people give cops the finger, and I kinda sorta think that would have been mentioned. But I've read a lot about it, seen interviews, and I know a few people who were there the day it happened. Then there's that cover of TIME magazine. Supposedly students were told to disburse and didn't so they were shot. You can google. And I do remember the song....4 Dead in Ohio. Anyway........... Back to topic.......today's attack at OSU.......it's a good thing that campus officer was around and acted FAST.
The Kent State shootings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings BTY this happened just a month after i came home from Nam
It does beg the question what was he praying for. I guess no one told him not to bring a knife (or car) to a gun fight. Glad the cop was there fast enough to make a difference.
