    I had lots of things planned with my granddaughters yesterday but all that went out the door when my dining room table leg broke early that morning.

    Here's my DIY aka 'jimmy, jerry, jury rigged' solution after they went home that afternoon.
    :eek::rolleyes::D

    This table has been with me since the early 1980s when I bought the set from a nice couple I worked with when they where relocating to Tennessee. With three boys the chairs didn't last but the table withstood the test of time I'd say. Needless to say I will begin my search for a replacement.

    No one will notice. How did that happen?

    My guess the many years of movement. It's really heavy. I'm going to order some furniture sliders to make it easier to move around.

    I've always loved older furniture. It's higher quality and deeper character.

    Old furniture and old houses--I love them both.

    Doncha know that I looked at that in-set cabinet door hinge and instantly knew that I would have NEVER thought about doing that !

    Heck, I would have been all about glue, dowels, clamps and brace brackets on the bottom which would all take me a couple of hours not counting the set up time for the glue but you accomplished the whole task in what…a half hour?
    Genius….!
    Now ya just gotta grab some more hinges and put ‘em on all the legs to give it that “that’s the way it was made” look.:)

    I think I would have sat down on the floor and cried. You did good, Von.

    I have a heavy table of about that same vintage and have felt pads on its feet. That’s enough to help it slide for cleaning, so far.

    That yellow stuff looks like it was once glued. I would remove the leg entirely and clean off the glue right down to the wood and then re-glue with Titebond glue. They advertise that it's stronger than the wood itself. I was a doubter so I glued two scrap boards together and then tried to pull them apart. The glue held but the boards came apart only when the wood ripped apart.

    I'll gladly accept the kudos Bobby. Thank you. After looking at the photo I thought that exact idea and repaint the base afterward. Well I have another project lined up. :D
