@Bill Boggs I just finished reading "Lightning Down" by Tom Clavin. It is a World War II story of survival. Joe Mozer was an American fighter pilot doomed to die in Buchenwald, but he was determined to survive.
Have now finished the Choice by Sparks. Although it ends well, my feeling when I finished the book is that it was a sad, sad story. If you’re a sensitive soul as I am this mayy not be your cup of tea.
Well, I definitely won't be reading that one. I am so sensitive that I cried when they had to shoot Ol' Yeller. For the sixteenth time.
I read a lot of WWII novels and non fiction. Also, I love Erik Larsen's books. He isn't a prolific writer but it is all non fiction and so very interesting history.
Bill, Larsen doesn't necessarily write about WWII, but all his books are factual. Isaac's Storm is about the mega hurricane in the early 1900s that wiped out Gavleston, TX is excellent as is Dead Wake which is about the sinking of the Lusitania. The Bedford Boys and Avenue of Spies by Alex Kershaw are good WWII books. All of these are on Amazon along with tons of others. Happy reading.
Bill, love the new avatar. Your son? I didn't order The Return yet. Honestly, I forgot it. I'm going to make myself a note to order it tomorrow. @Lois Winters , I think I remember reading Isaac's Storm a long time ago.
@Shirley Martin The avatar is no relation to me but is known to me through my nurse who gave me permission to use it. He is older now and has a guitar. His daddy is from Cambodian, his mother Oklahoman, the boy seem to have musical talent.
