We are off traveling again ….we left home last Friday with plans to travel to the southern side of Melbourne the largest city in Australia , our plans were to visit a old gold mining town called walhulla https://www.visitmelbourne.com/regions/gippsland/destinations/walhalla however, Liam Neeson was just finishing up filming This … Walhalla, which has a population of only 20 permanent residents will be taken over by crews to film Ice Road 2: Road to the Sky……Then we hear / see on TV / radio the Grampians area we have to pass through to get to Melbourne / ect is on fire ..sigh …. So we changed our plans to travel from SA to ….other parts of Victoria then into New South Wales …then ACT Where we arrived yesterday https://www.nca.gov.au/education/canberras-history/canberra-seat-government# After traveling for a week needless to say we are fairly tired However i will add some photos they may be of interest
You need to reduce the size so that the width is less than 1,000 pixels. If you like, just post it sideways and one of us will fix it for you.
Note this is NOT …. some small fishing lake it’s the lifeline of NSW and Victoria’s water supply Don’t think I’d take on walking around the Perimeter of lake Hume ……think 370 .. kms ( 230 Miles ) would be a bit far for a stroll
This photo shows where there was once a town but because of flooding when the dam overflowed the town was moved
@Shirley Martin windmills pumped water from underground mainly for livestock ( sheep and cattle ) it was usually stored / pumped into stone tanks that were constructed, in the early days of settlement in Australia, then flowed into sheep troughs from tanks as needed via a float system in the troughs ……. very similar to how a toilet system works I believe most systems now days have electric pumps run by solar systems . Underground water is mainly used for stock ( sheep and cattle ) in the dryer states of Australia where states that have lots of rain have huge dams for stock water Shirley the pictured windmill would not be in use ( it’s huge )
Here in Wisconsin USA we have painted cows. Several in Oshkosh and New Glarus I have seen. I think down southwest they have painted horses in tourist areas, at least they did when I traveled. The sheep here won't stand for being painted.
