Millions, maybe billions of people have used honeycomb.

How did they find out that it works ?

Either someone told them, they read it someplace, or they discovered it by trial and error, or even by accident.

It is inexpensive enough for most people to obtain .

It is harmless enough for most people, with no worries.

So taking a little of it is a good way to find out - to test the results other people have had, right ?

This is also the same of other things for thousands of years, that have helped so many people.. and even today
continue helping people.... a little bit, a small price, a small test, and tada ! Someone else finds out !

    First hand experience....

For more serious matters, or some not so serious,

how difficult is it to have the doctor oversee taking vitamin D, C, A, or any other almost always harmless supplement, or
to test the results of a change in diet ?

The potential benefits are freedom from a virus, freedom from a terrible itchy rash, freedom from pain,
    and so on....
(and often accompanied with freedom from the side effects of drugs, side effects sometimes suffered needlessly for years... )

Sure, it is a challenge to suggest something new to a doctor, at least to let them know so they can watch for the effects ....
but it has been tremendously fruitful - peaceful - joyous - and rewarding to start taking charge of health.

There are resources in many places people live, to find out about "options" in what they take, and what they eat, and what they drink.

One basic option, that can help very much in the long run, and sometimes even within a few weeks,
is to get to drink distilled water. Next best is probably, not for sure, reverse osmosis water, or aqua fina (according to consumer reports tests) .

This helps on a daily basis, and the whole body, the healthy body, requires clean water to be best possible.

When water has chemicals and other things in it, it can result in long term damage, and short term diagnosis of skin troubles ( even sometimes drugs given for skin troubles, dy doctors without knowing the origin/ the cause) ....

Clean water is one of the best, or the best, way for the body to continue to function in processing/ metabolizing / dealing with waste products in the gut and in the tissues and in the blood stream.
Regular tap water too often contributes to trouble in the gut, and tissues (including brain), and the blood stream...

This is observable when there is a visible skin rash, from bathing in the tap water, or showering, without a filter, then
installing a filter, or using distilled/clean/ water for a sponge bath - the visible skin rash goes away !
Thankfully, often, the itching stops also....
