Yes, I can charge my kindle with the same charger that I use to charge my cell phone.

@Yvonne Smith - I've already got an Amazon account and lots of free books I'd downloaded to "Kindle for PC" but never found time to read.I'll probably continue to choose my books using my PC.

I really must make some time to read the online manual, though I hate reading manuals and tend to only use them for reference when I get lost. I'll remember your kind offer if I have any questions. Thanks.

Thanks Ken. I must check whether my cellphone charger has the same fitting. I'm not sure why I didn't think of that.

If you want a Kindle and you are an Amazon Prime member, today is the day to buy one. $49 for a regular Kindle, $79 for a Kindle Fire.

There are some good deals on Kindles (and some other tablets) on Amazon right now if you've got Amazon Prime. I almost bought an Android tablet because it was cheap, but then I realized that I didn't need an Android tablet and would probably never use it. Such restraint is very unlike me.

My wife had a Kindle (or two?) for a while. Now we both have recent model iPads and use them for just about everything. I have Kindle and iBooks apps on my iPad.

Michelle has an iPad but although I've used Macs for years and have an iPhone, I don't care for the iPad. Since I wouldn't be using it as a replacement for my computers, I much prefer my Kindle for reading. I use my Kindles daily.

I'm not sure why, but I am thinking of buying an Android tablet. I had one in my shopping cart once, then couldn't think of a single reason why I'd need one. I have, I think, about eight Kindles, from the older Kindle readers (including one with real buttons) to the regular Kindles, Kindle Fires of various sizes, and a Kindle Paperwhite, which I hated at first but am coming to like.

Yet, because they are cheap, I suppose, I am thinking of buying an Android tablet. It doesn't make sense because I have Mac computers and an iPhone, yet I hate iPads, although maybe I'd come to like them in time, if I had one. My wife has a couple of iPads and I don't like them much, so I am not inclined to spend the money required to buy an iPad that I would probably not use, but Android tablets are much, much cheaper, so it wouldn't be that big of a loss.

Do any of you have an Android tablet? If so, do you like them, and what do you do with them?

Which kind are you thinking about buying, @Ken Anderson ? I have never had an android tablet, and the closest I probably came was the Chromebook, which uses the Google Playstore apps just like the android tablets do.
I am so used to the Apple operating system, that even the Kindle OS seems less intuitive to me, although I could use it well enough, the same as the chromebook OS.
I am looking forward to hearing how you like the Android tablet once you have it !

Probably this one, or maybe this one, unless I decide to just get the basic tablet itself, in which case it would be this one. I hated the Chromebook but I wouldn't be trying to replace a MacBook with an Android tablet. It might be kind of nutty to buy one though, even if they are cheap, because I don't know what I could do with one that I couldn't do with a Kindle Fire.

Nice. Please post a short review next time. I'm planning to buy a tablet also.

This is not a review yet because it just arrived, thirteen days after I ordered it, and it is still charging. However, unless I am missing something, I don't think I'll be happy. I ordered the bundle because I hate trying to type on a touchscreen, and I wanted the keyboard and mouse along with it. However, the charger cord that came with it for the keyboard appears to have a USB connection, which I'd expect, except that it seems to be for some other country's standard because it doesn't fit into any of the chargers that I have, including the one that came with it. I've never come across anything like that before. It looks like a USB connection, but wire clips to the left and right of it prevent it from being inserted into a USB charger. Without the keyboard, I'll probably never use the damned thing. I didn't need it to begin with, but it's pretty much useless to me if I can't charge the keyboard.

I'll have to go through my cords and see if I have one that has a normal USB connection that will fit the keyboard. If so, it's not the end of the world.

Okay, I found one, so I'm good. Now, I have an extra charging cord that might come in handy if I ever move to Dubai, China, or wherever the heck that cord is intended to be used. I'll let them both charge, and get back to you later about whether I have a purpose for the thing.

I couldn't get the screen protector on, but that's my fault. I have never been able to get screen protectors on. That's okay because I doubt this will be anything that I'll be carrying around. The case looks nice, though.

I think that you will really like the new tablet , at least once you get used to the different operating system, @Ken Anderson . Basically, it appears to be about the same set-up as I have with my iPad, a tablet with an external keyboard, making it similar to a small laptop, but with the advantage of a touchscreen for when you want to use that, instead of scrolling around with a mouse to get to stuff.

I read the information page for the tablet you have, and it seems like it would do about anything a person needed just for every day use, plus it has that nice 50% OFF tag on there, so you get the whole setup for half price !

Yes, I liked the price, as compared to an iPad. I have tried using my wife's iPad a few times, and while I have been using Macs for years, I didn't much care for the iPad. Of course, she doesn't have a keyboard setup.
