I continue to work on reducing the Nasty Fatigue.....wondering IF I NEED to be "content" don't like that word here BUT feel my reasons are more and more:

    Advancing age 86 now.

Body consumed with OA and now Nerve Damage,

Probably 5 nasty Side Effects from Hip Replacement, 14 yrs ago....

I take thyroid med for well over 20 yrs. Take some supplements said to
    ward off Fatigue,

And recently Thorne Adrenal Cortex and at a month in don't feel any shift, but I'll take this stuff for a couple more months.....

A morning coffee helps and I'm always late to have that first and only cup....

Any comments are fine but silence is OK too.....I aired what is on my mind.

Oh I sleep good but with some broken sleep for bathroom and shifting my body.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling with so much Joy. Are you still able to walk? I ask because I live with other seniors, and many are able to walk, even with walkers. I think if there is any way at all to keep moving, but start with just a few minutes, might help you get a bit more energy.

I also believe many of us aren't eating enough proteins, or healthy fats in our diets. I know I get so tired of cooking. Some foods I used to eat, would jack me up for an hour or two, but then I'd crash from them. That was too many carbs at the time. I was diagnosed with Osterporosis, and a "little" arthritis doc said, but I have no pain now since lowering my carb content.

I cut back to one cup of coffee, then went decaf, but that was mainly because I have a pretty bad tremor, denise

Denise, having my coffee now and what a great little lift....it's after noon here so I start late as I stay in bed longer with the nasty fatigue.

Yes I do walk and with a walker and Caution, I've fallen and had to call 911 but so far this year NO FALLS......my body is so OFF with the replacement job, shorter leg and more crappy stuff gone wrong......

I have PT usually a couple times a week, and get sine kufts from the techs. this is thru Medicare. And the doc who comes to my place every 8 weeks or so.

Oh and I stay in bed in morning and do 40+ minutes of stretches and tapping and some meditation, without this routine I'd really realy be in trouble........joy

Hi Joy, I needed a nap after being up since 4 this a.m. ;) I do get insomnia at times, or at least if I wake up during the night, sometimes hard to fall back to sleep ;) Wanted to ask what your doctor recommends? Should have asked that first thing because he/she should know what would be the best way for you to go on the fatigue thing.

Just one more thing I thought I would ask you is if you have any sort of pool near you? I have Medicare Advantage and got a free membership with that, thanks to @Yvonne Smith getting me started with that. I go to a class once in awhile and it's all seniors, many your age. I was the youngest one at 72 in a couple months. Some with walkers go to my gym, especially love the pool, and jacuzzi. Maybe something like that could work for you to have an outing, and it feels absolutely wonderful just to float around.

I do know that when I sit in my chair either at computer, or lazy-boy, and sometimes I'll do that days in a row, is a cause of my fatigue, and then poor sleep patterns, but I know there are other causes as well, we are all different. One size doesn't fit all, we sort of have to try a little of this or that to see if we are helped by it. I know I can't over-do anything without paying for it, a higher price than when I was young ;) denise

IHi Denise, I am not willing to go near a pool area, I need to be standing strong, slipping on water, omg...

I don't have insomnia and take a couple sleep things to get me to sleep and keep sleeping,, not drugs. One thing that helps is 1/2mg melatonin about 1 hr before hitting the pillow.

My brother and his gf are visiting CA and just spent an hr or so here.. He's 83 soon and had a back surgery some time ago and knee replacement and is very unsteady while walking, like me only I use a walker and told him to give up vaniety and get a cane...

Hi Joy, I've been doing collagen peptides for maybe a year now, but I'm due for another bone-density scan, so I'll let you know how that comes out. I feel like I have a lot of energy some days, and less on others. Maybe that's the norm but who knows. I just don't know much at all about fatigue, I'm sure it was great to give you bro a hug :)

I just read about both fatigue and stress in older seniors (early Baby Boomers and Generation before them), of which we have both, but mainly stress.

First, not knowing what is wrong with me (high PSA/Prostate blood level) is producing quite a bit of stress in us. Just hope that whatever we find out, and the treatment I will need, doesn't give us more stress and fatigue, but that could happen.

Second, the heat here has both of us stressful and fatigued. Since we had to sigh another Lease, we have to wait until next June to move. It was pretty stressful finding out that Prescott, AZ wouldn't be a good move for us to make, but we had to visit to find out. It's stressful spending the money to find that out. Hotel, gas and food.

And, on top of the above, trying to handle my wife's sister, that I've already written about, is stressing us out as well.

Cody, sure HOPE the PSA issue gets "fixed"....

All the other Stuff will find it's way, so much one can do for other's lives.

Thw more peoplw in our lives, there can be MORE Stress. I've more or less "let go" of so much I can't control.

My bro just called and he and Cathy are watching the Crzies on the Santa Monica Pier, so so so many drugged and mentally illl homless. He and Cathy will head back to New Hampshire where it will be a lot more quiet...
He knows of an order of Nuns who do non stop praying and he will ask them to pray for me...can't hurt.

He said he will stop at a casino on the way to the airport and could win some of the bucks he spent for this week's trip......GOOD LUCK Mike...
