Does anyone know anything about this man? He is apparently the Republican nominee for the governorship of that state. What what Wikipedia has to say about him, he is a bigoted African-American politician who is the current lieutenant-governor there. Anybody know about him? Are the accusations true?

I don't know anything about him, but Wikipedia is as leftest as CNN. You won't find unbiased information there.

He is backed by President Trump, and apparently, loved by the people there. I listened to a short clip, he is a Christian, believes there are two genders, and looks like he is going to be elected Governor.

If Wikipedia knew us they would say we are bigots too.

It just means that Robinson doesn’t support Biden like he is expected to because of his skin color. He thinks for himself and he supports Trump.

He is relatively new on the scene.

EDITED: OK, need to add something I don’t like. I’m not sure if it’s true but he’s been accused of denying the holocaust, disliking Jews and Israel. I haven’t heard that before.

I doubt that, @Yvonne Smith . He is running against Josh Stein. He has said that the holocaust is BS. He has said that women shouldn't be preachers. He has apologized for both but you can't unsay them. He has said that he will push for no abortions for any reason. I voted for him, but I will not vote for him in November just because of the abortion issue. If he changes his stance on abortion, I might vote for him.

Stein is well liked by most North Carolinians.

    • Accomplishments: As attorney general, Stein stopped the rape kit backlog in North Carolina, collected billions from the pharmaceutical industry for their part in the opioid crisis, sued Juul, an electronic cigarette company, for targeting youth in their marketing and held companies financially accountable for pollution and pollution clean-up.

The Bible overtly supports his position, although there are passages that some say infer otherwise.

Regardless of what the bible says, I don't think modern women will vote for someone who says it. He will have to make some kind of strong statement in favor of women to overcome that statement.

WIKI said he was a "climate denier."

How dumb is this guy to not know we have a climate?

It doesn't say anything more than what is perhaps common sense.

I found an article about Mark Robinson and some of the things he has been accused of saying. This article points out some of the problems with the accusations.

Media Smear Merchants Come for Mark Robinson, Get Derailed by the Facts - and Their Own Video

I'm going to keep watching. I certainly do not trust the media. This comes from RedState which is a conservative website.

That is why I started the thread. I wondered if it was just the Dems going after a conservative Black man because he threatened the narrative. Thanks for posting @Vada Bloom

Mark Robinson, North Carolina’s lieutenant governor who has a history of making inflammatory comments and has said he would abolish abortion rights, has won the state’s Republican nomination for governor.

Issues like the right to abortion would be at stake. Robinson said last month that he would “absolutely” protect life from conception. “We got it down to 12 weeks,” he said. “The next goal is to get it down to six, and then just keep moving from there.”

This is why I won't vote for him in November... unless he changes that statement.

“At Moms for Liberty's Philadelphia event, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R) says dictators like Hitler, Stalin and Mao are being taken out of context and promotes reading their writings,” the tweet reads before quoting Robinson’s speech. The video is deceptively edited. Robinson's full speech makes clear he was recommending people read the writings of dictators to understand the threats they posed.

The tweet and other social media posts show Robinson saying, “Whether you’re talking about Adolf Hitler, whether you’re talking about Chairman Mao, whether you’re talking about Stalin, whether you’re talking about Pol Pot, whether you’re talking about Castro in Cuba, or whether you’re talking about a dozen other despots all around the globe, it is time for us to get back and start reading some of those quotes."

However, the clip leaves out important context about Robinson’s statement. A full version of his speech reveals he was not endorsing the dictators’ ideas. Instead, he was encouraging people to study them in order to understand the threats they posed.
“It’s time for us to start teaching our children some of those quotes,” he said. “It’s time for us to start teaching our children about the dirty, despicable, awful things that those communist and socialist despots did in our history."

Robinson in a past Facebook post called reports of the Holocaust "hogwash." In a separate 2017 post, he implied that the widely accepted figure of 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis is false.

"There have been some Facebook posts that were poorly worded on my part," he said, adding: "There is no antisemitism standing here in front of you.

“It came off the wrong way,” he wrote, according to a photo of the book’s text shared by Lonergan. “When people called me and asked about it, that’s what I told them. And I apologized to them. It’s the only time I’ve ever apologized for anything I put on Facebook. It did come out wrong. I knew the truth of what I was trying to say, but I should have chosen different words.”

On Thursday, Robinson said he wants to move on from his own past statements.
"I've never been antisemitic," he said. "I've never had anything against the Jewish people."

If the governor’s race in 2024 comes down to Robinson and Stein, the result will be historic no matter what. North Carolina has never had a Jewish governor or a Black governor, but a race between the two of them next year would guarantee one of those barriers to be broken.

I guess this dispels the false rumor that all southerners are ignorant racists.
