You misread me entirely. I'm saying you have your approach to moral behavior and it works for you and I think that's a good thing.. Actuality over-rides appearances with you and that's workable. If someone else pays more attention to appearances, does that make them wrong? Do you suspect that their keeping up appearances masks real bad acts? You need to give them the benefit of the doubt that that's not so. Neither way is superior to the other if the end goal is moral behavior and the results are . moral behavior.

A little more about this... You might consider your approach to be more mature in some respects. I agree. But consider how rare consistent moral behavior is in the world. Anything that gets us there is worthwhile, even if it's more simplistic than you would like.

I’ll try once more and either you make sense of it, or for whatever stubborn reason you have, you won’t.

When you go to a store and buy a can of beans, there’s a picture on the can which designates what it is and when you open the can, that’s what you expect to see and experience.
That is exactly what we’re all about or rather, supposed to be about. All too often there are people who profess one thing but are caught in the act of doing something else entirely which, like profiling all cops because of the actions of a few, goes against all of Christianity and not just that one person.

Now, is simply being seen dining with a woman who is not your wife sinful? Certainly not. But, is there any possibility that one’s character might be questioned by one’s peers if I did so? Absolutely.
We want people to see the good in us and maybe, just maybe want what we have and not sit around and wonder about the bad that Might be in us.

For you, life is much easier. People know you cuss and can get cantankerous and probably do not mind getting a little tipsy at times which is fine for you. But in the life of one who has to come as close to living an untarnished life as we can for fear of tarnishing all of those who believe, it isn’t fine at all.

Look if you will at those who are really peaceful Muslims and those who are out there bombing and raping whomever. Are not the peace loving Muslims being overshadowed by the terrorists?

And how about Bill Clinton as an example? He was a professed born again Christian but his activities with Monica and a few others said something totally different which shed a lot of bad images about the Christian faith.

Mike Pence is only doing what is mandated by our faith. He has to stay beyond reproach and as a clear testimony concerning his faith in God.
