I've been looking for a church to join here in Fresno for a few years now and my focus wasn't on Catholic because I had a selfish motive for joining a church and that was just for social reasons and I knew other Churches were more fun than the Catholic Mass. I did try a few and none appealed to me for different reasons...mainly because they were too big, although the one with the Starbucks like coffee shop in the lobby and the production they put on of "Lost" was enticing..I didn't go back. Think that was a non denominational one. Just awhile ago I looked up Catholic Churches near me and The Holy Spirit Catholic Church is the closest. I looked at their website and a YouTube video and I guess I'll check them out but they look expensive!
Chrissy, you will know you hit the right one when you find it.....you will just know it is a good fit for you. Good luck on your spiritual search.
Thanks Missy! I decided not to go tomorrow since it's Father's Day but will definetly go next Sunday...if nothing else going to church will give me a reason to put make up on and dress nicer. I'll also find a seat next to an older gentleman who is by himself. It's going to be a win win situation....unless they start bugging me to give more money. Looking at their chart the least I can get by with giving is $6 a week. That's doable for me.
Oh, okay. I'm sorry if I misunderstood your post Chrissy. It sounded like you were saying you had to give at least $6 each time you went. I hope you find what you are looking for in your new church.
I don't have to give anything ....I'm not a member but every church I've gone to I've donated when they pass the basket even if I wasn't a member. Well I didn't find it in all the other churches I looked at so now I'm going back to my roots and that's probably where I'll find it. I'm looking at this Catholic Church because it's the closest.
Of course you don't have to answer this question Chrissy but I'm wondering what is the "it" you are looking for?
I hope you find that. We often find alot of things we thought we had lost forever when we go back to "our roots." I hope that will be true for you to Chrissy.
I'm sure it will...Ive tried other Churches because they were more "fun" but never felt comfortable in them.
I don't feel comfortable when I go to a new church either Chrissy. That might have alot to do with the fact that I'm just not a people person and don't feel comfortable in crowds. I'm always drawn to the smaller churches and smaller groups of believers. Many people are drawn to the mega churches because of all the social amenities, etc. that they offer. But I'm not looking for social amenities in a church. I'm just looking for a place where I can praise and worship God and hear His Word spoken and have some fellowship with my sisters and brothers in Christ. In a smaller church I find it easier to do this.
I'm also looking for the social aspect and it's just easier in a smaller church.... Also, looking on their website I see they're planning a cruise...too late for me this year but I bet they do things like this every year and it gives me something to save for that I'll enjoy and also feel safe going with a group from church.
That's what I was thinking I can save about $200 a month easily, now I just waste my money because I don't have any goals. I've always wanted to do a group type cruise or any type of travel but haven't found the right group. Don't want to travel alone and all my other trips are as Gradma which is great but different than people my own age. I'm thinking it will be older folks because in fall school starts. Maybe in a year, I'll even have someone to share a cabin with. . Hahaha
