Tony, you are too kind. There's nothing amazing about me; quite the contrary. Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness; I'm glad the surgery is behind me.
I got the BEST possible news from my surgical oncologist today... pathological complete response to chemo!!!! No trace of cancer left in my breast tissue or the 32 lymph nodes she removed!! OMG, I am so psyched and relieved.
I also got genetic testing results; no hereditary breast cancer pathogenic variants were identified. So I don't have to worry that my little granddaughter might have inherited this crap. What a GOOD day!!!
That is all WONDERFUL NEWS, @Beth Gallagher ! So glad that you received those good reports, and I am sure that this has improved your day a whole bunch .
Now that is what I was hoping for, for you!!! Why do they feel they need to do radiation? Sounds to me like you are on the path to getting strong again. I am so excited for you!
They are following the 3-pronged Standard of Care protocol for IBC, and radiation is part of that. I have an appointment with the radiologist on Sept. 22 so I will have plenty of questions for him about this. I have read studies that in some cases "women of a certain age" don't really benefit from radiation because it doesn't add significantly to their life expectancy so I want to know what benefit it will provide. Thanks so much; I'm excited for me, too.
