I'm only here for a sec, but I heard this and logged in again to find the conversation we just had about it here... for what it's worth, @Steve North , I couldn't read/hear this and not show you the link because you mentioned being a long-time user. This particular report just hit the news within the last few days. http://www.local10.com/health/splenda-linked-to-leukemia-study-finds
NOpe according to Snopes...that's not true...so don't start throwing your splenda out quite yet... http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/splenda.asp
..and this... http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/diet/artificial-sweeteners-fact-sheet
Yes, I'm aware of those old Snopes and government reports, @Holly Saunders ... those were from several years ago if I'm not mistaken. I was talking about the newly released (10 March 2016) medical journal reports that are just hitting the news currently.
..yes @Mari North however I do believe that the cancer research or institute is constantly up to date...
So, I was going to ask how completely can Snopes be trusted, then read the article. Evidently, they back up their statements pretty thoroughly, albeit by other "experts". It might be interesting to know how many times litigation has been brought against Snopes. But I wouldn't bother to waste my time, because I regard the Legal "Profession" to be absolutely out of control. Frank
Well, I just bought a box of Splenda 2 days ago, I'm going to use it up and then see what I'll switch to. After all the years I've been using it, one more box wont matter either way.
The main problem I have is where I live in a small village, there isn't a great grocery store.. They only carry Splenda and Sweet & Low... Splenda is the better one of those.. When we go to Sudbury, we do some shopping at the Walmart, but that is only a few times a year.. We have been using Splenda ever since we have been on "Low Carb" which is about 13 years..My wife was recently diagnosed with diabetes and the dietician recommended Splenda instead of sugar.. I am not saying that Stevia isn't better or anything negative about it other than I cannot get it up where we live.. Should it become available, I will definitely give it a try, but till then, it is Splenda or Sweet & Low... Splenda wins...
