I have been discovered to have kidneys stones and this is the 3rd time already. For the first 2 occasions, the first in 1996 and then 2002, I had undergone a procedure to crush the stone and pass it out. Both procedures were successful. But this 3rd occurrence of the stones is being controlled by an herbal concoction and diet. That is the reason why we are shying away from salt. We love fried rice but we never put salt although the usual recipe for fried rice is garlic and salt. When we boil meat, the usual procedure is to add salt whether you are boiling pork or chicken meat. Now we are getting used to the taste of salt-free dishes. But don't get me wrong, we still cook the usual dishes that has salt. It's just that we are trying to minimize the use of salt.
Age does that to us all. Not only do we watch our sodium or salt we watch our sugar and cholesterol too. We have found lemon pepper for salt and garlic salt too. It tastes fine with the two substitutes for salt. But shoyu well that is where I use regular shoyu. I tried the low sodium shoyu and it doesn't taste good to us.
kidneys stones are caused by a calcium deficiency the calcium in the stones was taken from your bones and teeth and not what you ate. The parathyroid put out a chemical which pulls the calcium out of your bones and teeth to correct the PH in the blood. Doctors have this completely wrong but there again they make their money off you being sick. Salt is needed by your body for your digestion the chlorine is needed to make Hydrochloric acid for the stomach and sodium for the carbonated soda put out by the pancreas. In live stock they give salt blocks [mineral blocks] to animals and they don't tell the cows they are only allowed one lick a cow or other animal will stop when it does not taste good I guess the cows are smarter than humans
@Martin Alonzo, I agree about the salt. I have been listening to you, Yvonne, and a couple ot others talking about the different minerals and suppliments that can help us. I have been adding a few at a time, and ended up taking quite a few. Recently I changed doctors, so I took my bag of extras, and showed them all to him. To my great surprise, the doctor agreed to all of them, and has even added one. Thiamine.
I am not sure about the cause of the kidney stones but I do understand they are painful. Hope you are doing well with the maintenance program. As we age we do have to make adjustments to what we eat to stay in good health. I limit my salt intake to avoid swelling in my joints. I have been drinking my glucosamine to help with joint pain.
Salt is another failed medical theory and just in the last year they increased what they said we needed. There was no science behind the quantity of salt to use it was just a theory and it has proven to be wrong.
