A couple of weeks ago my younger sister messenged me regarding mail that she was looking for ... hmmm. I told her there was nothing but junk mail and also that I had found the perfect vacuum cleaner for her. Her response, 'OMGoodness! Yess! Thanks Vonn so much for all the love '(heart x3) By the way (hehehe, snickering right now) I must have a knack of jogging her memory about things because it never fails that there is a 'By the way...' when we talk.

Anywho, she asked me to write her a Bio of my CPA experience. As a car screeching to come to a halt, I thought to myself 'What?' I didn't even apologize for not being what she had assumed when I told her that I wasn't a CPA, accountant or a bookkeeper. I simply wanted to get that straight because I knew something else was forthcoming and I was right.

She is applying for a grant for her business and needs a Chief Finance Officer because someone else had bailed on her at the last minute. So the opportunity for me to take on that title with the understanding of some concerns I had of 'not' being a CPA, accountant or bookkeeper I accepted.

So, I have been going through all my resumes to pull tidbits out for the Bio. So many memories of my journey in the working force came flooding to the forefront of my mind. Experiences that I had locked away for they would never be repeated and thought to be a 'flop'. The one thought that leaves me smiling is that I had indeed accomplished that goal of being an entrepreneur if only for a few years from the documents that I had kept. My business never folded but just got buried beneath decades of better opportunities that came along.

I did it! I really did it. Mmmm.

Hmmm..... Forgive me, but I'm not clear on the above. You are not going to represent yourself, on your CV, as having any of the needed CFO requirements, correct?

I believe that when applying for grants, there are legalities involved to the point where misrepresentation of credentials and qualifications can get you into very hot water, including criminal prosecution.

No, it's nothing like that at all. I won't be having the CFO title that's just my sister. She is very dramatic and blows things up, makes a mountain out of a mole hill. She just needs someone who can keep track of her revenue and expenses, for now.

I don't mean to be a PITA, but:

"She is applying for a grant for her business and needs a Chief Finance Officer because someone else had bailed on her at the last minute. So the opportunity for me to take on that title with the understanding of some concerns I had of 'not' being a CPA, accountant or bookkeeper I accepted."

I will not comment, further, no matter what, I promise.......

You're not being a PITA. My title isn't going to be CFO. I was just using my sister's choice of words. I guess I could have phrased it differently I just liked the way it sounded.

You can be the CFO, or any other title you like (I preferred "Grand Poobah" myself). There are no "needed requirements" other than being honest in your CV.

Many corporations have presidents as well as CEO’s, CFO’s etc. Sometimes, the founder of a corporation is the President and the CEO is the head honcho on the board.
Just depends on what type of corporation it might be and whether they are public or not, taxation and a bunch of other stuff no one but them care about.

I was the president,CEO,CFO engeneer and all of my Chuck Wagon business and my Shrimp Truck too. I really liked the Shrimp biz going to the docks a couple times a week watching the shrimp boats come in with gull and pelicans flaying around them was a great job. But we moved and that was that.
Also had a cleaning business that was fun ,construction clean up till I got stuck on a roof and had to be taken down by fire dept. I had slid all the way to the edge and wasn't moving till help came.
Guess I wasn't cut out to be an entrepreneur.
