You are totally right about that, @Kitty Carmel , and I am sure we have all seen examples of that kind of people someplace we worked. I remember particularly when I was working at the academy for (rich kid) delinquents.
I was hired as kitchen help, and the lady who ran the kitchen was slender, intelligent, and beautiful. She told the management of the academy that she was overworked trying to keep the kitchen running properly and she needed help. (My son also worked for that company, and he is the one who told me to put in an application because “poor Bobbie” needed more help).
It actually turned out that “poor Bobbie” spent most of her day down at the local casino, drinking and partying, and it was the rest of us who worked in the kitchen that had to do the work of 4 people instead of 3 because she was never there to do her part, unless it was some special promotion where she would look good to the academy management.
I am sure that most of us could come up with similar examples of workers who “looked good” but did a poor job, or sometimes, no job at all.

I think that the issue at the doctor’s office is not that these people are not doing their job, but that it seems like a medical facility would make more efforts to help their employees stay healthy.

Maybe they could with less of a job load and less stress. That's not going to happen. It's all about profit in the medical industry.

Personally do not condemn the overweight staff in any way...just wondered how they cope and handle it from their bosses and etc.
As for sour medical staff... Lolo they also have much to deal with ...fron patients who curse them out..to doctors who berate tbem for even the simple things.
Granted they should be all smiles and how are you today crap....sometimes they ask themselves...why do I keep doing this?

Btw....fat does not equal bad health! I know many people who were very healthy but very overweight.....then they had all the stomach staple..bands. and etc...and have been sick ever since ! My daughter is one of them. And thin does mean your healthy either.

My wife's doctor is short and definitely plump. I think that's why he doesn't say anything about my wife's weight. She isn't heavy-heavy, but she says she'd like to lose 30 pounds. And, we are both heavier now than when we met 18 years ago. Have pictures to prove that (unfortunately).

We do go to Golden Corral Buffet sometime for dinner and there are times we are completely shocked at the really heavy people eating there.

My wife had a co-worker in Colorado that was pretty heavy and it played a toll on her back, legs and ankles. She had to have back surgery that didn't turn out entirely the way she hoped it would.

And, from my previous years in EMS and working for a Senior Healthcare Company, overeating isn't always the reason for being grossly overweight.........like the general public thinks. Another cause is medications the person could be taking.
