I met a 73 year old today that was visiting a friend here at Assisted Living. He told me he has Parkinson's Disease and was not ready yet for Assisted Living. He went on to tell me that his disease was pretty much controlled by a Surgical Implant. He looked and sounded fine and more like 63 than 73. I know nothing about Parkinson's until getting back to my apartment and Googling it. It's a nasty disease that I hope we all avoid, but it's nice to learn that some can be helped with the implant. It seems spooky when they discuss wires and electrodes to the brain etc. This is one of the ways I pass time.

I didn't know about the implants. Yes, it's a terrible disease for sure. I'm glad they finally have something to relieve the condition.

I remember reading about that implant technique when my father was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2002. It only works in certain cases, but when it does, it's amazing.

It's difficult to diagnose Parkinsons. The definitive diagnosis is whether the medicine for it helps or not. It didn't seem to help my father. There are other very similar brain illnesses. He didn't have the usual shaking symptoms, but they say 20% don't.
