After being healthy all his life, Philly has been battling diabetes for the past year. Currently, he is in a rest home where he has been for a month, following an emergency operation. We expected his doctor to sign off on his release following his appt on Thursday, only to learn more surgery will be required. Scary stuff. Please keep positive thoughts.
I am so sorry to hear the bad news, @Sacheen BrightEagle , and we have already been saying prayers after hearing that he had become very sick recently. I was not sure if he was in the hospital or not, and when I asked @Ina I. Wonder , she didn't know either. Send him a group hug from everyone here (most of us know and remember Sifu Phil very well), and let him know that we will be praying and/or keeping him in our thoughts. Hopefully, he will be doing better and out of the hospital/care home soon. Please keep us updated on how your Philly is doing ! ! And sending big hugs to you, too; I am sure that this is very stressfull to you as well.
Gee, this is a very sad thread much more because of diabetes. I am praying that he gets better and would recover beautifully in the days to come. Surgery for a diabetic patients is complicated but there is hope, of course. In our circle, diabetes is getting common and I don't know why. My sister's oldest daughter was found to be diabetic at age 15 and she's now 25 and doing well with the help of insulin shots. And there are others who are not only surviving but surviving well.
@Sacheen BrightEagle. Please tell Phil that he is in my thoughts and prayers. He is one of the most fun people I have met online. I h ave missed his, shall we say, slightly different sense of humor.
@Sacheen BrightEagle Please convey to him my best wishes for recovery, and the fact that I miss communicating with him, as we once did. Frank
Thanks so much Frank and Patsy. I haven't spoken to Philly in a couple of days, his phone is not working. Hopefully that will be remedied ASAP.
Phil is a hot head, and I mean that in a good way. So I pick on him to maybe help pull him out of the depression his illness has brought with it.. Although he tries to show the tough ole' boy attitude, we all know just how frightening the demise of our health is. I think it's harder for men to accept declining health than women. Our generation was taught a strong man is always capable of dealing with life, and illness was looked on as a weakness in men much more than it was in women. The day Phil showed up on Sacheen's door step, I sat down and picked up a pencil to draw them a picture as a remembrance. I haven't been able to draw my portraits in a good while now because of cateracts. So this is just an symbolic impression of them. I spent 3 or 4 hours on this, and I think it will probably be my last attempt at drawing.
God help Sachen Bright Eagle and Philly, please heal and cure Philly, in the name of Christ, thank you amen. ( You're welcome in advance.) Sorry to hear about Philly and a get well soon to Philly. We're rooting for Philly here at seniorsonly.club!
