So, we've had a Humana Drug Plan, for each of us, for some 10 years. It's an ok drug plan, but the "out of pocket cost" for my prescription eyedrops, for my post-laser cataract surgeries (each eye) was much lower than Humana would've paid. However, all of the prescriptions I had in my two hospital stays earlier this year, they covered the cost of. Now, for the problem: Our Humana Drug Plans were ok in both Florida and Colorado, but we just received a letter from them, due to changing our address online on our account in their website, that they don't cover anywhere in Nevada. The letter stated that "if this address is only temporary, you will be covered for 12 months, but after that, will need to obtain a different drug plan if still living in Nevada". So, now it appears that we are going to have to get a new Prescription Drug Plan. Unlike my wife, all of my prescription medications are covered by my VA Medical, where I get them from. But, due to my wife's current salary, we have to pay a co-pay. Now, not only do I have to get a new VA doctor, wife has to get a new Medicare doctor, but now we have to get a new Prescription Drug Plan. Any recommendations??? Oh, the perils of moving!! LOL
I am very surprised that Humana does not offer medicare plans in Nevada, since they are one of the largest companies, like United Health Care is. We have an independent agent here that we get all of our insurance coverage through. Since you will also be changing over your car and driver insurance, you can probably find an independent broker in your area , too, @Cody Fousnaugh . They can carry insurance from multiple companies, and will look at the needs you and Wife have for medicare coverage, and they can help you find the plan that works best for you both. We have had a medicare advantage plan with Humana for several years now, but we always update our coverage with our agent to make sure we are getting the plan that suits us best.
No body in Kansas wants Humana - it is crazy. @Cody Fousnaugh . we have used Cigna for Rx since moving to Kansas. $12.50 per person a month. They pay all our meds except for my inhaler. I pay around $40 for it-otherwise it costs almost $600! Oh and one of Marks meds is $24.00 . I am in process of once again trying to decide if we should stick with Medicare alone.
No more replies are necessary, here is why: We done a little research, online, and found out that, Humana Rx does cover Nevada. Then we called Humana Rx, explained about the letter we received and what we read online. Well, the letter didn't state that we had to re-enroll with our Humana Rx. The Rep took all of our Humana Rx and Medicare info and stated that our coverage would re-instate November 1st. However, at the beginning of 2024, our monthly premium cost will go up $22 to $110.70 from $88.90. We will check out a different Humana Rx Plan that costs much less and the Rep told us that has pretty much the same benefits. But, for now, sticking with the Plan we have. All of this due to, whomever done the letter, didn't say a thing about re-enrolling to keep our coverage.
