I am reading of a ransomware attack at Amazon that is halting processing at Amazon and Whole Foods. Anybody experience it?
I don't know how widespread it is, but reports form some employees at Whole Foods said both were affected. I just wondered if that was perhaps responsible for some of the delays in shipping from Amazon
American Hospital Association has posted that 1/3 of all prescription in the U.S. will not be filled as a certification system has been hacked by a nation-state hacking group. Prescription data has been taken and patient information may be compromised. If you need prescription drugs in the next month or so, you may need to pay cash for it and it will be the full cost of the drug, not what you are used to pay. https://www.aha.org/2024-02-24-upda...d-cyberattack-impacting-health-care-providers
I have not noticed any difference in placing orders or shipping. I placed 2 orders earlier today and they have shipped to deliver tomorrow. I don't order from Whole Foods.
I remember reading about this earlier last week when we had the cell blackout that affected the health insurance and also AT&T and maybe some of the other cell companies. They were saying that it was because of the large solar flare, but that would have affected all of the cell companies, no it just some of them, and the cyber attack on United Health was somehow involved with that whole thing. It might also have something to do with the spy balloon that was in the news a day or so after the cyber attacks.
What I understand is that the United Health computers were hacked and threatened via ransomware, so United shut their computers down until the problem can be resolved. Apparently they don't know what was affected, so they shut everything down and are trying to reconstruct the database from scratch. There was a vulnerability in some software they were warned about, but they didn't get the holes plugged quickly enough. Might be up on Monday, or it may take until the end of march before everything is fixed. It is a nightmare for those folks who are affected and need meds to maintain life and health. I understand the pharmacies can contact the drug warehouses directly, but it is a real pain and no one wants to do it unless life is in the balance.
Microsoft has announced they were hacked some months ago and the source code for Windows and Office was stolen. I don't know what this means for everyone, but it is said to have been Russian hackers who did this. Potentially every computer using Windows or Office may be at risk? I don't know. Cyberwarfare is arriving I guess.
