I got this message from AMAC (Association Of Mature American Citizens) who are supposed to represent conservative seniors on the right as opposed to AARP which leans left. The federal government does not negotiate - it mandates! Please contact your Senator and tell them to say NO to price controls for Medicare drugs. What I’m getting from this is that they are way too far on the right. Why would I not want price controls on meds that I may not be able to afford when the same drugs are cheaper in foreign countries?
Since most of our drugs are made in China we are at their mercy. The last thing we need is the Feds getting involved in an already corrupt business. What we need is ALL our drugs manufactured in the USA and several companies in competition to keep the price in check. Less government control and more free enterprise.
I thought the bill was to allow Medicare to "negotiate" pricing on drugs. I need to read up on this, and I agree that it's way past time for big pharma to have to toe the line on drug prices in the USA. There is absolutely NO REASON for Americans to pay 10x what the rest of the world pays for pharmaceuticals.
