Ride a public utility in the morning, particularly during rush hour, and surely you would see most passengers are asleep. Whether in a bus or van, the norm now is to sleep it off as a way of avoiding boredom with the heavy traffic. There are some who are using their phones but the majority are in dreamland. When I had no car yet, I used to take the van in going to the office. I would leave at 5am to avoid the crowd in the waiting area where the vans are lined up. And once settled in the seat, I would take out my phone and do some work. I use my phone for taking notes which I later expand when I am in the computer. But when I had nothing to do, I avoid sleeping because there are cases where criminals would ride and declare a holdup on the poor passengers. That's the culture here of passengers of public utility vehicles.
Corie, are the vans and buses overcrowded with passengers, and have there been many people killed or injured in accidents? Just hope the drivers are well rested!
I can't sleep anywhere but my bed and at night. Well, I can sleep in others people's beds too but not in a car, plane, train or even at home during the day in my recliner. Don't know why but I've always been like this. My husband and then John would be asleep before the plane even took off and usually snoring and I'd have to elbow them.
I ride the bus in to work, when I go, just a short hike to the bus stop thru the park. A winter shot of park. 15 minute bus ride to Downtown. A shot from the roof-top where the shop is located. View is always nice outside the window.
