Veronica Yvette Bennett known as Ronnie Spector who formed the Ronettes in 1957 died a few days ago after a short battle with cancer at 78. She was an amazing singer with a sound that inspired many girl groups that followed. She was the best! Beautiful inside and out.
I always make sure to put their albums on my playlist. Estelle Bennett, her sister had passed away quite a long time ago also. RIP Ronnie, Your music will live on and on
Wow, Faye, didn't hear/read about her death. She was a great lead singer for The Ronettes. The song, Be My Baby, was terrific! The group consisted of Ronnie, her sister and cousin. From what I have read, Ronnie had a brief battle with cancer.
Perhaps I don't understand the meaning of brief. Pop singer Ronnie Spector, who found fame with the '60s girl group The Ronettes, died Jan. 12 after a brief battle with cancer, according to a family statement. Spector was surrounded by family and "in the arms of her husband, Jonathan." "Our beloved earth angel, Ronnie, peacefully left this world today," the statement read.
Ronnie sings just as good as ever at age 64 when the Ronettes were inducted into the R & R Hall of Fame 2007.
