Rush Limbaugh, probably the most followed radio speaker in America (if not the world), was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and President Trump and Melania had invited Rush to the SOTU last nite, where he and his wife sat next to Melania.
During the SOTU address, President Trump made mention of Rush’s cancer diagnosis, and then announced that he would be receiving the highest civilian award given........ the Presidential Medal of Freedom
    .
Melania did the honor of awarding it to Rush, and you can see the shock on his face as he is overcome with the emotion of receiving this medal from President Trump.
Just watching this brought tears to my eyes, and I am sure it did to many of the people who were in the audience last night when it was presented to him.

No matter what Rush may have said or done in the past to lambaste the Democrats, their lack of respect for acknowledging this honor was conspicuous to say the least. Stage 4 of any cancer is it, as there is no stage 5. Tough diagnosis to say the least and Rush's treatment will be difficult indeed. Very moving moment. There were several others as well and that Pelosi did not stand up for the Army Sgt. being united with his family, spoke volumes.

Does anyone know what the symbolism is involved with the women in white holding up 4 fingers?

I just read about it online. Something dealing with women's rights. Not the first time a woman/women have worn white to a SOTU.

I listened to Rush a number of times when I lived in Orange County, California years ago. He was very outgoing with his opinions. Don't know if I'd call him "the best" at what he did on the radio, but he was right at the top with some others. Congratulations, Rush!!

The man that was escorted out of the SOTU, had interrupted Trump's speech. He was the father of a school shooting victim and was speaking out against what Trump said about protecting gun owners rights.

I thought the white was a holdover from their KKK days.

As for Rush Limbaugh, he pretty much defined talk radio and he was far more than a talking head for the Republican Party. When I first started listening to him, George HW Bush was in office, and I didn't get the feeling that Rush liked him very much. I don't remember specifics, but my impression was that he was not a fan.

He was more receptive to George W Bush, and I get that. Although both of the Bush's were globalists and neoconservatives, at best, GW Bush is a more likable guy, as far as personality goes. I know that while he was governor in Texas, he didn't act like he was better than everyone else, and he seemed approachable.

His politics were awful, but it was hard not to like him.

Back to Rush Limbaugh, though, he has always criticized Republicans when he disagreed with them and praised things that Democrats did that he thought were good. It was hard to find much of that during the eight years of Obama because there wasn't much to like.

Rush wasn't a Trump supporter until he became the nominee. He'd rather have had pretty much any of the others in the field, and particularly Ted Cruz, I think. He is more of a mainstream Republican than I am, but his expertise as a radio host was hard to deny. He didn't hang up on people because they were making a good point that he disagreed with, as most talk show hosts do, and he treated callers he disagreed with respectfully,

As a radio professional, he defined what a radio talk show host should be.

I listen to Rush every day, and applaud him every time he stomps his heel on a Democrat's neck!

Sorry, but I don't feel that Rush Limbaugh is in any way deserving of the Medal of Freedom. Sorry to hear of his cancer diagnosis, but he is a vile man. Too many unsung heroes go totally unacknowledged in this hateful world; this man is no hero.

In the Mid East, it is a sign to show solidarity with the muslim brotherhood. I don't know what it means in the US.
