I found an article by Street Insider very disturbing seems many American Brands are owned by companies in foreign countries, and are no longer American owned.
Here is a list showing brand company owner and Country

    Popsicle Unilever England

    Ben & Jerry's Unilever England

    Burger King restaurant International Canada

    Trader Joe's Theo Albrecht Germany

    7-Eleven I Holdings Japan

    Holiday Inn InterContinental Hotels England

    Smithfield wh group Hong Kong

    Forbes integrated whale media China

    Dirt Devil tectonic Industries China
    Good Humor unilevel England

    Purina Bridgestone Japan

    FireStone Bridgestone Japan

    Gerber Nestle's Switzerland

    Hellman's Unilever England

    Citgo petrole Venezuela Venezuela

    General Electric appliances Haier China

    Motorola Lenovo China

    IBM Lenovo China

    Legendary entertainment Dalian Wanda China

    Hoover US techtronic Industries China

    Frigidaire Electrolux Sweden

    Alka-Seltzer Bayer Germany

    General Motors Shanghai
    Automotive industry China

    Spotify Tencent Holdings China

Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Anbang insurance China

    Snapchat tencent Holdings China

Cleveland Cavaliers Jianhua Huang Group China

There are many many more examples of foreign countries owning American companies.
China is a large shareholder in Tesla. Who knows how much influence they have on the stock market.
I understand that some of the American companies that sold to foreign buyers we're on the verge of bankruptcy this was there best opportunity to stay afloat, these appear to me to be strictly business deals with no other motive by thes foreign buyers, others there is a good chance they're out to destroy America economically.

Some of it may also be due to U.S. corporate taxes. As a part of the "tax the rich" nonsense, I believe we have the highest corporate taxes in the word. Companies do much better when they are based in countries with lower corporate taxes.

That is true some companies do manufacture in foreign land to escape taxes. I don't believe that's the case here these companies sold out entirely to foreign companies.
I remember many years ago Russian prime minister Khrushchev said something like "we will bury you" to the US, He didn't mean militarily he meant economically. That statement has stayed with me, Now I feel many other countries are following the same Concept.

While Khruschev was blowing, blustering, and banging his shoe, China was quietly taking over the world economy. And we let them.

I don't think China's move started quite that early. It began with Nixon in the beginning, but was set loose on the world by Bill Clinton when he used American power to push China in the WTO as a "developing country" exempt from most restrictions.
