    Hmmm. Interesting.

Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is changing her party affiliation to independent, delivering a jolt to Democrats’ narrow majority and Washington along with it.

In a 45-minute interview, the first-term senator told POLITICO that she will not caucus with Republicans and suggested that she intends to vote the same way she has for four years in the Senate. “Nothing will change about my values or my behavior,” she said.

She's up for reelection in 2024, and doesn't stand a chance in the Democratic primary, unless all the other candidates are like the ones the Republicans nominated this year. I read 40% of voters in Arizona claim to be Independent. Possibly she can avoid a primary altogether that way. She also needs constant attention.

I lived in AZ for a few years and remember her name. As I recall, she is a switch hitter in her personal life too, not that their's anything wrong with that...

She's a lot prettier than Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters, so I'd vote for her. More seriously, I doubt this will mean anything as far as the political dynamics go. She's going to caucus with the Dems. She's just maneuvering to win reelection in a district that's not entirely blue. Like Manchin, she will occasionally side with the Republicans to give voters the idea that she thinks for herself, but when the Democrats need her, she'll be there for them.

It's all about the primaries, as others here have already said.
