Coffee has an unknown (as far as I know) laxative effect, so keep that in mind when you cut coffee altogether. I have rea studies that showed coffee did something to stimulate the intestines apart from caffeine. Decaf coffee was tried as was caffeinated beverages and strong teas. Only coffee showed the effect, but as far as I know, the stimulant was never identified in the literature I read.
Mine work fine, coffee or no coffee. I make sure that we both get plenty of fiber-filled foods, and unless i overeat on cheese or heavy protein foods, I never have an issue. More and more, I am becoming vegetarian, so when I get plant based proteins, I am also getting necessary fiber, which a person does not get at all from eating animal proteins.
I looked at the Chicory coffee and I see it's instant. I brew an organic cup of fresh coffee every morning and it seems coffee no longer acts as a laxative, I think it did once upon a time. What I probably will do is once I get the Inulin Powder I'll add a 1/4 t or so to my cup and go from there.
For the curious: Probiotics. These are live bacteria found in certain foods or supplements. They can provide numerous health benefits. Prebiotics. These substances come from types of carbs (mostly fiber) that humans can’t digest. They are food for the beneficial bacteria in your gut so as to increase their numbers. Inulin is prebiotic. It is a type of fiber that's found in certain plant foods. Chicory root is the main source of inulin in supplement form. (If you are allergic to ragweed, avoid chicory. It is in the same family.) Your small intestine does not absorb inulin, so when it reaches your large intestine (colon), bacteria ferment it. Inulin-type prebiotics are generally recognized as safe, but like any product that affects your gut, they can give you gastric distress, and they can interact with certain meds & supplements. Search the web for Interactions Checkers before taking inulin. I use the ones on Drugs.com and on WebMD...they do not always pick up the same interactions so I look my stuff up on both. The Washington Post says that coffee has laxative effects, and discusses some of the possible reasons why, so that's proof positive. I never doubt anything reported in the Washington Post.
It's funny, for decades I've thought that coffee got things moving in the morning. I always figured it was just the hot liquid that did it, not specifically coffee.
I don't see this as a 'problem', but rather as a necessary and good realization. The spectacular actual real results of coffee enemas cannot be over-emphasized, and always will never be publically verified nor acknowledged as long as love of money controls virtually all media/ sources of information. The profit making sellers , at any time, who only seek to profit from the practice or information spoil a lot of otherwise great info, and often drive many away, or are used to drive many away.
Just had a health conversation with Product Specialist at Now Foods, I use a lot of their products....And since I'm taking Inulin on a recommendation, the specialist said what I really need is Psyllium Husk Powder.... Maybe I'll get things RIGHT before I kick the bucket. The world is constipated and 1000's take Metamucil and he said go with the natural stuff Psyllium Powder..with no chemical additives. Psyllium Powder is out of stock in many places, but I found a 24oz bag on Ebay and just ordered. Key too is Water Water Water, don't let the psyllium thicken before it's drank. Abd drin more water thru the day......so I'll do my best there. My poor mom and her sisters never knew all this info during their times and constipation. And he mentiond so so many taking Pharma drugs that cause more constipation. And I know that and know the Ibuprofen I take daily does the job on my colon.
Our walmart carries psyllium husk and so does Amazon. I buy it all the time and we add it to some of the food we have, like cereals or baked goods. I make a fiber cake that is a regular cake mix with psyllium husks, flax meal, and chia seeds, all of which will help with digestive issues and be healthy at the same time. We do not drink it, just mix it is foods and use it that way; but drinking would probably work just as well if you prefer that. Metamucil is just flavored psyllium with sugar added.
Adding PHP to foods one has to make sure that it doesn't thicken the foodstuff. I've been warned about drinking it down beore it thickens.
Oh I do, loaded on mag for a couple decades, my system is a major tough one and oh thinking now how I knew the falue of Psyllium many yrs ago. I can still hear a friend who I think she is gone now in her 90's lived on Metamucil every day with her coffee.....
