Although I didn't notice it for a while, but since I've been here I realize I'm not getting all alerts (it does work most of the time). On the "Alert Preferences" page I have everything turned on -- and have had since the beginning. Sometimes it's a watched thread, sometimes it's a tag. Yvonne just tagged me about 20 minutes ago and I never got the alert. I clean my browser every week or two so I don't think the problem is there. Also: On the "New Posts" page, what is the difference between the "New Posts" link in the upper left side and the "Recent Posts" link on the right side?
"New Posts" will include posts that you have not already read, while "Recent Posts" will list recent posts, chronologically, whether you've read them or not. As for the other, I don't know.
I sent you a pm to see if I can help out, @Marie Mallery . All you have to do to contact staff (or anyone) is to start a conversation with that person. To start a conversation, touch their avatar picture, and a little box will open up , and it has an option that says “start a conversation”. Just click that and it will open a private conversation between you and the other person.
I just noticed that if not logged in I see RECENT POST and when logged in I see only NEW POST. Is anyone else experiencing this? How do I find the RECENT post when logged in?
In Default Style, when in the New Post screen, the link for Recent Posts is off to the right above the Column Headings. That's the only way I'm aware of to get to Recent Posts.
I've had that Alert issue, but only noticed in when I had not posted in a thread for a while (although timing should not make a difference when the "Notifications" setting is On for that thread.)
If you're not logged in, it's not keeping a record of the posts you may have read (although it might for that session, I'm not sure) but when you're logged in, it remembers which posts you've read in previous sessions.
Thanks! I understand that but wish it was easier to find posts again that I read. I wish the recent link was easier to find. I did finally find it following John's instructions.
Click "New Posts" then "Recent Posts", which will be near the right side of the page, to the right of "Mark Forums Read".
I've not found much rhyme or reason to it, so I usually refresh the page via the browser command, then click "New Posts" then "Recent Posts," lol.
