Seriously! A potty putter? I thought an ordinary magazine rack in the bathroom was bad enough. I remember some of these, but most of them are new to me. These were very entertaining, but you're right about the announcer!
Sometimes I think these things are created more for a joke then anything else. I can't imagine anyone creating something like handerpants and expecting someone to actually buy them. But then people have been known to buy some strange things, so who knows. As for that horrid potty putter I have actually heard of this thing before. No, I didn't see it advertised thank goodness but it was on another video I saw about a year of so back of strange inventions. This thing certainly belongs on both videos its just too strange and again who would want such a thing, or any of this crap for that matter.
I think that all sales are possible as it is a numbers game. I had a high end furniture store before I retire and one day some guy came in with a piece of kd (knock down) junk and asked me if I would sell it on consignment. The guy was young and was trying so I told him ok. My guys put the thing together and I managed to sell it to a person as a "one only special deal!" I gave the young man all of the money and suggested that he could probably sell his stuff at swap meets. Never saw him again so you never can tell.
I had the original pet rock - bought for the humour of the instruction book. I'm amazed that they've come out with a USB version. I wonder what the book says now. I saw one of those banana slicers in a shop recently and was most unimpressed. I'm lazy about cutting up fruit and vegetables but even by my standards, cutting a banana into large chunks isn't much work.
I'm not sure how old that commercial is, but I've never heard of K-Tel in my country. But reusing old bottles in that way has become quite popular in South Africa. I've seen those tumblers for sale though I've never been tempted to buy them myself.
I can remember seeing the glass cutting commerical back in the day. I have never attempted to cut a wine bottle.
