Rather than make a thread specific to this individual example of stupidity I'm about to lay on you, I thought I would create a thread for us to post any ridiculous lawsuit(s) we may come across. If you don't like it...sue me !

    ***************************************************

A woman is suing Reese's for $5,000,000USD for misleading packaging because the candies lack the faces shown on the wrappers.

She won't get the millions she is hoping for. At least she will get are Reese's' decorated candy.:D

I wonder how many did she buy to justify the lawsuit.

Did the lawyer advise her to make it a class action lawsuit, hence the $5 million tag?

i do understand her reasoning, however the lawsuit seems useless. Most fast foods do not look like the pictures at all. Ever see an anemic tomato in a burger ad..nope.
But ,to sue is merely for attention and hopefully some money - IMO

Wasn't there a lawsuit against Cousin's Subs because their 7.5 inch sub wasn't really 7.5 inches? I think the guy won that.

The only true winners in these suits are the lawyers.

Funny but I was looking through some court cases when I was perusing the net for silly laws a couple of weeks ago.

One that I remember was a woman who sued her local TV station for $1000 for bad weather reporting. The forecaster said it was going to be a nice, clear day and she went out dressed accordingly but got caught in a rain storm.
The lady stated that after getting wet, she contracted the flu, missed work and had to pay for medications which all added to her stress level.

    She won the case.

Yeh, I think this stuff is clear evidence of a broken judicial system. I don't know why judges don't block what appear to be frivolous lawsuits.

I think the lawsuits should be blocked, the people filing them should pay hefty fines and their lawyer given jail time. It's a shame when a jury awards settlements for being an idiot (McDonald's coffee, anyone??)

I was wondering if the McDonald's coffee was going to come up. I knew her son. He was a pilot in my Reserve unit and an airline pilot. That lawsuit was 100% about money and nothing else. He didn't want her to file, but his sisters talked her into it.

Several years ago, on a slow day, I wrote to a toothpick company to send them what I referred to as an intent to sue. I told them that I had purchased a box of what was supposed to be 1,000 toothpicks, and that I had counted them seven times, and there were only 997 toothpicks in the box. I figured that it might be good for a free box of toothpicks. Instead, they did the more reasonable thing and ignored it.

Years ago, I was surprised to learn that prison inmates can sue for ridiculous reasons. An inmate sued because he requested smooth peanut butter & got crunchy.
