Talk of the Town for interesting local stories. Near us about a mile away is Park Ave. Park with trails that lead to Southards Pond. The last few days the local news has been flooded with information about a police investigation at this location. A female student while walking to school either near or in the park discovered a severed arm, reported it to her father who called the police. The police performed a search of the park found additional body parts. On the West End they found a female arm, head and legs, the East End they found two male tattoo arms. Speculations have been that this was an MS-13 gang killings, I personally have not read who's making these assumptions. I have not read any information whether the police dredged the pond. Residents are concerned because these body parts were found in a residential area close to an elementary school. The park is closed until the police finish their investigation. Yesterday temperatures in this area reach above 60°, a beautiful day, if the park had been open it would have been packed. I have not read any information regarding how they were killed or whether they were killed in the park or dumped there.
New York is a hotspot for South American gangs along with some other parts of the country and dismemberment is one of their tactics to control other members of the gang. The assumptions that this is the work of MS-13 or another one of those gangs is probably a pretty safe bet.
