I'm following this case because I'm interested to hear the evidence. Apparently the dad played in the Canadian Football League in addition to the NFL. The boy is 16, and I'm sure he led a somewhat privileged life. The parents seemed to be hard workers, but of course we never really know what goes on inside a home/family. The sister claims she slept through the whole thing, which is pretty unbelievable to me, although I've always been a light sleeper, so maybe she's telling the truth. Even if she did sleep through the events that night, she would know if there'd been issues between the brother and parents. Whether or not she will speak up truthfully about the family dynamics though is another story. It's interesting that they let the son out to attend the parents' funeral and that he sat in the front row. I'm not sure other prisoners, especially accused killers, are afforded that opportunity.

I found the below quote online at Bet.com, here's the link.

Meanwhile, the teenager has denied any involvement with the murders of his parents, although he admitted to experimenting with trying to silence guns with pillows and blankets.

I detest these cases, it is so abhorrent that a child would kill the parents
They have the instinct within them and would probably kill again as they obviously have no compassion

This is the first I've heard of it so don't know any details. The link didn't give much info.

Were there any issues in the family? Abuse, alcohol, anyone have mental problems? The alarm being off means nothing to because I don't always set mine.

Why wasn't the sister killed? This just made me remember the Menendez case....I'd forgotten about that one.

It does happen a lot though...kids killing parents and also the reverse....parent killing kids.

Yes Chrissy - I do see a reason for killing a parent, if a parent abuses a child :( They are not a parent, but an abuser

True, there's been some very horrible cases of child abuse and I'm not talking about getting hit with a belt when I was a younger.

Things I can't even imagine that a parent can do to their own child or anybody else for that matter.

When that kind of news would hit the headlines, the first thing that would come to my mind is illegal drugs because there were so many cases like that, killing a family member and later on the criminal would admit to the crime and would confess that he was under the influence of drugs. It's really sad that a young man would kill his own parents for reasons unknown to us. Maybe he is a spoiled brat and extremely egoistic that when his parents did not bow down to his desires, he kept nurtured a grudge and another grudge and another until he was overwhelmed by the number of letdowns so he got even by killing his parents.

But letting the killer attend the funeral of those he killed? That's outrageous.

It's sad but it sounds like murder suicide. In the link it stated that the mother was already dead and the father died at the hospital. The note could have been a warning to the wife. The son could have been afraid that the father was going to kill him too.
