So, when I was a kid, I used to love the arrival of the Sears Toy catalog that would come out a month or two before the holidays to give kids things to beg for, or parents ideas of what to buy. I used to diligently circle all items of interest and leave the catalog in places where my parents would be sure to peruse it. I remember one year I was very enthused about getting a cotton candy maker which I mentioned several times, and I had seen in the catalog, anyway...it was a no go, either because it cost too much or they thought I would make a mess or something..I got a sno cone maker instead..which probably wasn't any less messy, however, I was thinking about it the other day, and wondering about cotton candy makers and looking on Amazon I saw there were about 15 at least. It also triggered Qmee which popped up all sorts of ads for me to peruse for cash. Anyway..I probably won't be getting the pony now, my other desire or go cart. lol..so...hmmm...maybe I will get the cotton candy maker I was always wanting..sometime. The modern ones, can often make cotton candy out of hard candy.
Yeah, I don't have a cotton candy obsession, but it is a fun treat every once in awhile. The drive in, I mentioned on here awhile back was supposed to have it in their snackbar, since I haven.t had it for years, I was really looking forward to it, but they didn't have it for some reason. Well anyway, I could make my own with a maker.
Well if you make your own..I guess you would have more control over what is actually in your product...Yum...Butter rum cotton candy, using Butter Rum lifesavers. I can dig it!
We still have cotton candy here in theme parks and also in some malls. Whenever we would have a party here at home, we would hire an ice cream cart complete with the ice cream man who would handle the job of putting ice cream on the cones. During our last party, one child mentioned cotton candy. That gave me an idea so probably in our next party we would hire a cotton candy cart for the kids to enjoy. By the way, I also love cotton candy and I never miss it when we go to theme parks.
Yes, it is pretty much a staple at theme parks, circuses, carnivals and the like. They also sell overpriced bags in convenience stores. I am not going to pay 1.99 for what amounts to a quarter cup of sugar in a bag though. I like it warm. I remember one time we were at the zoo and it started raining and our cotton candy melted. What a disappointment! Someone suggested I start a business with a cotton candy maker..but hmm..I don't think so. You probably need a permit from the health department..and a small scale thing for myself and a few friends will be it! If I ever buythe cotton candy maker that is.
You can get cotton candy in a bag now days at Walmart and other stores, but I did love to see the cotton candy machines at the bazaars and carnivals we went to when I was young! Cotton candy was so light and tasty that I always had to get one every time I see it and enjoyed it immensely! I did not want to get the machine though. image from http://pinterest.com/pin/425027283553660496. Like the image I'd wait and watch how the cotton candy was made with amazement and loved to eat cotton candy. Today we can get them at Walmart...image from http://walmart.com/ip/fluffy-stuff-cotton-candy-bag-2.5-oz-24-count/36375072 .
