Here you go @Mari North I started it for you, this excellent documentary that the BBC put out a few years ago is what made it popular in the UK, and resulted in myself and most of my family and friends taking it up, in fact practically everyone I know now is living this way. It has to be said that it has been about in different forms, for many years and is more a lifestyle choice than a diet. The first thing I noticed when starting it was the disappearance of hunger pangs completely, and a rapid loss of excess weight, about 10 lbs in my case down to my mean normal of 155lbs, The presenter Dr Michael Mosley is excellent and both my daughters have a crush on him, a father figure I think
There is no way I can fast for even 3 hrs. I even have something to eat on my trip to my daughter's which is 3 hrs long. I will always have some sort of low calorie snack in my purse if I'm out for a long time.
Yes but as it says in the documentary you can eat 3 meals on the fasting days of up to 500 calories total, plus your metabolism changes.
Five day on .. two day off. I could live with that, and quite often I do. Days that I'm busy in the yard, or doing things, I forget about food.
If only I could eat just 3 meals. It's probably that I've gotten used to eating all day. If I tried it, it might change my pattern but to be honest I really can't think I can do it. Anyway what am I arguing about, I don't really have to lose weight anyway. I may eat all day but it probably only adds up to 2000 calories when I'm being piggy. 1500 on an average day.
Thanks Terry for that video it parallels what I have been saying. They missed one point that when you get total nutrition you urge for food and hunger disappear so fasting is easy. I find fasting easy and sometimes have to be reminded to eat. Hunger is a sign of a mineral deficiency and it is called pica.
Yes Martin exactly what happened to me I am never hungry nowadays, so fasting even without the 500 calorie meals is very easy. I rarely eat anything before lunch and have no food after 6pm the previous evening, so that is already a fast of 18 hours. The big thing though is I feel so much better living this way, and my blood tests are all good.
