I haven't been to America but I have heard of the way of life there. When my husband was in the LA area, he had to walk 2 kilometers from the house to the bus station and back. That was the standard - walking. But here, we have tricycles (a motorcycle attached to a cab called side car) and pedicabs which is a tricycle powered by human feet. Alighting from the bus, the passenger would be looking for a tricycle or pedicab to bring him home. That 20 cents fare would save him from walking half a kilometer. And for the middle class who do not have a car, it is the taxicab. It wouldn't matter if it's expensive as long as they don't have to walk a few hundred meters.

It's ironic to see the cars trying to find a parking space in a crowded parking area and what would alight are people in jogging pants for they would join the Fun Run. I really wonder why we don't have the motivation to walk.
