There are a lot of Filipinos working abroad on a job contract particularly in the Middle East. When the war in Syria started, the department of labor had issued a notice to inform the Filipino workers there to leave their job and come home. But those overseas workers are stubborn so they simply stayed put. Now there is an issue about workers losing their jobs so they had to endure hunger amid the call of the government for them to come home. Their usual reason is that there are no jobs here.

For the women, the usual job is domestic helper. Also in the Middle East, those Filipino women tend to be abused physically and mentally. There are countless of cases involving injuries and death. But in fairness to our countrymen, they are in a much better position for their stay is legal unlike the migrants from Syria and lately Africa (Sudan). Those people from war-ravaged countries are escaping and risking their lives to travel to other countries that could give them a home.

@Corie Henson - migrants are being fooled into coming here for a better life
Our own people are struggling for a 'better life'
Its a sad situation, but I could wring the necks of people smugglers ! They have 'zero' compassion

Many sad situations and what one human ca do to another is terrible.

I'm thinking I don't have much to complain about. What I deal with is working for a profit mongering corporation. But I have a safe home and don't endure what many in this world do.
