My system asked if I wanted to Play or Save all your other audio files, Dwight. This one skipped that option and just opened up File Explorer as though I had selected "Save." It played fine after I saved it and then launched it from my hard drive.
I don't know what's going on. The operating system should treat files with the same extension the same way. If anyone has an answer let me know. It shouldn't make a difference but perhaps audio mp3s saved by different programs will be treated differently by the OS. Maybe the header info in the files direct what happens with the file.
I'd direct you to What Music Are You Listening To Today but those I just copied those music files. The audio from X-Files was recorded by myself with Audacity from an online video. Look for the William Cooper audio file I posted. I think I recorded it in the same way. I forget where I posted it. No, forget that. It was a link I posted to his full audiobook and not an excerpt I had split out myself. All this isn't that important. It seems everything is working as it should except we just don't understand why some files act differently. WW3 is a little more important.
The William Cooper file is treated the same way, as are the music files you uploaded. Can you direct me to the initial thread when you were trying to figure this out...that file gave me the Play/Save prompt.
That would be this very thread - unless I'm more senile than I thought. Did you know there was a British sci-fi author with your name?
I was looking for the very first mp3 you ever tried to post, and you were told how they work here. And, Yes, I chose that name because he's one of my favorites.
And, Yes, I chose that name because he's one of my favorites.[/QUOTE] Kool. I posted a question about uploading audio files in Help Requests but the back and forth there doesn't clarify anything that is currently puzzling us. My trouble was a temporay system glitch and not anything I was doing wrong. Honestly, I'm just not worried about why some audio files act differently than others. We might have a talk sometime in the appropriate forum about what sci-fi authors we like. Robert Silverburg is my favorite. (a little later) It was the Bill Cooper 2 min audio. I posted it twice - once there as an example and once under conspiracies.
Oh yeah, so you're going by an alias. I always suspected you were on the run from the lawman. Dwight McKay Ward is my real name. I'm an upstanding citizen.
Okay, I found the thread...the one where Nancy posted the bullfrog sound clip: Can You Post Sound Files? For some reason, my computer has stopped giving me the Play/Save prompt on all of these. I've looked online to find a solution, but get nothing but unrelated results. It's tough to figure out the right search phraseology for this specific issue...apparently lots of people have lots of problems with lots of audio files in lots of apps.
