I had one of those in my office while living in Texas. I am not particularly afraid of spiders, and find some of them to be attractive, like the garden spider below. For more than a month, I had a jumping spider on the wall of my office and was quite willing to live and let live. Then he started moving toward me on the wall, and suddenly jumped to land on my knee. Now, it could be that he was trying to bring our relationship to the next level. Unfortunately for him, my instincts kicked in, and I swatted him without a second thought. Probably, if it hadn't been so sudden I would have waited to see what it's intentions were.
When you are staring basically "eyeball to eyeball" with that black, hairy, scary spider...wondering about his intentions was the last thing on my mind.
