I see on tv commercials for "Uber eats". I have never used it and I'd like to know how it works ? Do you 1st call the restaurant and THEN Uber ? Or visa versa ? Also, how much does Uber charge for that service ?

I've never used a food delivery service except for back in the day when pizza places started doing it. Are you gonna start having your meals delivered?

Not as a general rule , but I would like to know how much extra it costs and whether I would need to call the restaurant before calling Uber ?

I have never used a delivery service for food except for Domino’s Pizza occasionally, but if you have amazon prime, they are now giving people a free year membership to Uber Eats, which would save you the monthly fee for membership, @Richard Whiting .
There are people here who can probably explain how these services work.
My daughter-in-law delivers for Uber Eats, and I think she said the people call in the order to the company, she gets the alert and goes and picks up the food. I would guess that you pay Uber Eats for the meal when you order it, and then they pay the restaurant, like happens when you call for an Uber driver to take you somewhere.

I have never used Uber Eats, but let me google that for you...

How to use the Uber Eats app
    1. Browse. Uber Eats has hundreds of restaurants to choose from.
    2. Order. When you're ready to check out, you'll see your address, an estimated delivery time, and the price of the order including tax and delivery fee.
    3. Track. Follow your order in the app.

Apparently you have to use their app. You have to pay a delivery fee and a tip on top of the cost of your food.

And read online comments regarding the tipping. It can be a Point-of-Delivery conflict. There was a video where one delivery driver (dunno of she was Uber) refused to give the customer his food because a $5 tip did not satisfy her.

I have learned a lot on Reddit, lol. Apparently the tip is shown on the order and drivers can choose whether to take the delivery or not. Then they "rate" the customer so if the tipping history sucks then they just don't deliver to them anymore. (Say if the customer lives in a 3rd story walk-up and/or tips 40 cents.)
