These I got from the library on DVD. They were part of a collection of DVDs and books donated by the family of 2nd Lt. Jeff DePrimo who was killed in Afghanistan. Japan's War in Colour (2005): Japan's role in World War II gets a whole new perspective in this consisting entirely of full color footage, including color films from Japan that were recently discovered. Begins with the militarization of Japan in the late 1930s and ends with the the atomic bombs. I found the 1/2 hour special feature of the B-29s that left from the Marianas to bomb Japan and then joined by P-51 fighters to be especially interesting. The shear number of planes boggles the mind. The Longest Day (1962): In 1944, the U.S. Army and Allied forces plan a huge invasion landing in Normandy, France. Despite bad weather, General Eisenhower gives the okay and the Allies land at Normandy. B&W movie with a cast of familiar big-name actors.
