Do you pay any attention to folks' signatures on forums? I never did, before. There is subtlety in their change; no mention of it by anyone, especially not the owner. Avatars are far more often used to express change, for whatever reason, I guess. But who reads sigs? I do. There is in sigs, an opportunity to convey a message. I've used that chance to lash back, unobtrusively, at some moron ridiculing me. On another forum, of course! Some sigs elude me. No clue. Others are so pointedly focused that I shrink back wondering if I should make a remark. Some provide rather elusive "clues" about their originators, facing me with a myriad of added imponderables on my list. I love it! Others appear, at least to me, rather meaningless, conveying little information usable in the posting arena. Past forum, a retired airline pilot had something like, "fly-boy". Asked about it. He Captained 757 aircraft, BIG planes, before he retired. Experiences unmatched by anyone else I had ever met. I have lost him, coming here. I try to "convey some message", quietly and taciturnly, in my sigs. I have even "squared" a few aimed at sparring with an unnamed Forum Opponent. Tell me, us, what prompted your choice of signature. Are you as deviously-inclined as I? Frank
Yes I look at them, I'm an observant person and I notice your signature is missing Frank Some are interesting, but I don't take them to heart, people are mainly 'quoting' another
When I first joined this forum there was a movement to get everyone to put where they are from on their signature. I guess that's been forgotten
@Sheldon Scott - I like to know where people are located, so its a good idea - we could be neighbours !
We are neighbors, Patsy. I live just 20 miles from London. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London,_Arkansas
Wow! This internet stuff is soooo great! I just found out on my people locator that Yvonne and I are neighbors and here she is on this forum! Seriously though, I do pay attention to not only the signatures but the avatars as well. It gives me more insight about the person.
I remember the location suggestion @Sheldon Scott mentioned I think someone wanted a location map like some other forums have. I usually put a quote by someone that inspires me at the time, then forget about it. I haven't really thought about it as way to make a point or lash back as @Frank Sanoica mentioned.
I think you can get a little insight into other member's feelings by the different signatures they use whether they are original, or right out of someone's thoughts. I tend to use things that occur to me when there is no one to discuss a thought that pops into my wondering brain. Of course I tend to have more unanswered questions than answers. Sometimes they come from epiphanies, (to me), and sometimes they are just half composed thoughts. But I do think our signatures have something to tell others about what might be concerning each of us.
@Patsy Faye " I notice your signature is missing Frank " Good observation, Patsy! It's part of "The Plan"!
@Frank Sanoica would probably add his location if he only knew where he was. I added a line to mine just for fun
