That is something, I never heard of tree roots growing bark. Our creek flowed into our lake was water from natural springs. We would be in the woods playing and get on our knees and drink from them. We had a 10 acre lake 45 ft. deep in the middle and mama stocked it with bass and brim, catfish just showed up from somewhere. Up till about 13 I had a wonderful life, not that we didn't have hard times now and then but we had it made.
Went for a walk but only cut a few vines, cutting vines slows me down and interferes with my walk. But some are just too tempting so those have to go.
Last few days I felt like I'd had it, but today I pulled and piled lots of vines and trees and brush from Helene storm. Looks so good and lots done. Jake is having pain with his legs, he did cut lots too just not much pulling.. I told him I didn't want to be in woods alone today, but once I got going, I was fine.
After pulling 6 tics off since last vine clearing, haven't been in the woods for last 3 days. Guess I'll have to treat my overalls with permethrin. I don't like chemicals, but this natural stuff doesn't work. I'll tape my socks inside my pants legs and spray the stuff on my pants legs and waist.
Lots of people recommend it, so I will spray my clothes and shoes in next couple days. Today I used pure peppermint oil that I keep. So far not a single tick, although I was in the woods clearing vines up to a few minutes ago, it was dark, so I quit. I feel much better than I have past week. I didn't know if it was heart or lungs, but I feel much better after making myself work.
The reason I've not messed with it is is a poison, and I don't want it soaking into my skin. The guy in the vid hopefully only put it on the tops of his socks where they go around the pants leg so his leg is protected from the permethrin that's on the sock. Maybe his pants leg further up is too thick for the permethrin to soak through to his skin. Either way, I had planned on marking whatever clothing items I treated so I would only wear them when I needed tick protection, to minimize exposure.
I'm with you on this. I don't want it near my skin either, What I'll do is wear my coveralls or over my clothes so as not to be in contact with my skin, I told Jake today I need a pair of vinyl walking shoes or even boots to spray it on. Thats is why today I used the mint because I don't have proper protection plus you should spray it on shoes and clothes day before you plan to wear them. I put up first video I could find after looking for the one that was better I watched a year or so ago. Also, I don't want to kill the butterfly's, spiders, crickets or other good insects by spraying area.
If you have a tractor supply, horse products or farm supply house near you, you can get muck boots there pretty cheap. Tractor Supply has women's knee high rubber boots for $20. I bought a pair of cheap rubber boots to have around so I don't trash my work boots.
John, I bought the boots you recommended and the price was what you said too, just $19.99. Thanks, they feel ok, and I can spray them since they are vynal.
