A family get together yesterday. It is not the rowdy, raucous party it once was. When our children were home, we had a much bigger deal that lasted all day, and actually was in two parts. We had a fall bonfire that burned up all the brush and stuff that had accumulated over the year. That was usually at this time of year before the snow got deep but after all threat of wildfire was gone. The kids would bring their friends and cook hot dogs and marshmallows over the coals as the fire died down. Yesterday had the grandchildren in costume with a family dinner, decorations and goody bags. Don't have candy anymore, as one grandchild is type 1 diabetic. It was fun and everybody seemed to enjoy hanging around. As a side note, youngest son fixed my spreader for the tractor and took some pieces with him to weld at work as my welders just are not quite big enough for the job...and he is a much better welder than I am.

So you have the party in early October to time the sanity of the bonfires?
