I will just be hanging out as usual and enjoy some good meals, good wine, good company, good reading.

On Saturday morning, we will head to Dunkin Donuts for their coffee and some breakfast to take home.

Now, the bad news (weather) for this weekend...........t-storms late on Saturday, daytime t-storms on Sunday and heavy showers on Monday. Definitely not a good boating/lake weekend and that will really upset a lot of boaters here. Even if we had our boat back Service, we never take it out on a holiday weekend, like this one, Father's Day, 4th of July or Labor Day. Way too many goofballs out there!

And, on Monday morning, will hang up our large American Flag on our patio. Sort of weird, but we are the only residents here that do that. We have drove around to see. Then again, the last apartment complex, we lived at for 10 1/2 years, we were the only resident that had small American flags outside. Again, we drove around to see.

Other than that, we will be watching a few Memorial Day celebrations on tv and a "live" rodeo on The Cowboy Channel.

So, our most enjoyment will come from drinking Dunkin Donuts coffee and watching rodeo action. But, that's ok with us.

It will be pretty much the same as every other weekend. My husband will go over to his mother's house on Saturday and Sunday, to mow and take care of any property maintenance, pay bills, fill her pillboxes for the week, etc. He spends about 6 hours each weekend day over there. I'll putter around the house doing laundry and doing whatever I please. (I like weekends because he always picks up whatever I want for dinner on his way home and there's no cooking... woohoo.)

It's likely I'll work on a novella in which the funeral of an Army colonel reunites two high school sweethearts who make a special visit to the Jefferson Barracks veterans cemetery. And if I'm lucky, I'll get to turn off the furnace until autumn.

@Cody Fousnaugh , your mention of raising the flag reminds me of working on base for years and everyone walking and in cars coming to a halt at 5 pm when the flag was lowered and the anthem played. And with that memory in my head now, I'll probably spend a few hours this weekend thinking about friends and events from the days of rubbing shoulders with those in uniform. ;)

I’ll hang out around the house. Once in a while our son brings sweet rolls for our breakfast.but not a sure thing.
I have a book I’m reading and another sample that Amazon sent me at my request, to read. I blow my harmonica
for a few minutes most mornings to get me started off right i.e. my breathing. we spend most holidays alone, she watching tv, me doing whatever I can find to do in a wheel chair. I usually turn to the computer sooner or later and lately I’ve been on here quite a bit.

I sure miss playing my Hohner 64 Chromonica. My hearing is so bad I can't tell the difference between a piano and a trumpet. I loved playing Malaguena and played it well.

I wanted a Hohner 64 Chromatic and waas about to get one but had already invested in a dozen diatonics. My son was a professional musician ten years before becoming professor , suggeste I get really good at what i had and when I was totally satisfiedl, then buy chromatic. I followed his advise. I did buy a Hohner ten hole to play and get aquinted with. I liked it but liked chromatic is real talent.

If it is Memorial Day, then I must grill out. Bought a couple of giant t-bones, we will have with baked potatoes and tossed salad. Classic stuff. Can't really do much else this week end because of some minor (we hope) medical issues.

Enjoy the Holiday, and a thank you to both of my Grandfathers for their service in Europe in WWI.

Hoot, enjoy the cookout. And I also hope the medical condition is minor.

Oakmont Assisted Living will have a Bar B Q for residents and guests in our Court Yard Monday despite a weather forecast of 103 F.

Oh, I forgot, I will help my wife make her fabulous potato salad on Sunday afternoon. On Monday afternoon, will fire our grill and have a hamburger or two, along with a Bud Light (of course). Our grill is located on our patio that is covered, so if it's not raining to hard, can use it.

Here it is, Memorial Day. Just took our large U.S. Flag out to our patio to display. Looks great!

Last night, watched a very touching National Memorial Day Concert that honored those ladies that served in Vietnam as nurses, those that died on Sept. 11th, 2001 (terrorist attack), the first Black Soldiers, those that served in Korea and others. It was so touching, wife and I had a box of Kleenex close to us.

Also, on TCM station, watched The Devil's Brigade and part of The Great Escape and Where Eagles Dare. In, Where Eagles Dare, Richard Burton got top billing, which Clint Eastwood didn't like, but put up with.

For Memorial Day Weekend, our weather has been absolutely terrible. Rain, cloudy and more rain. Boating has ceased, nobody at lake swim beaches and other outdoor activities..........well, you know. We still plan on firing up our grill this afternoon for some burgers, but our grill isn't out in the open.

It's a beautiful sunny Memorial day here in Louisiana and Cajuns love to cook outside when the weather is like this. This afternoon my oldest daughter and her husband will be bringing plates of their outdoor cooking to us. I love a good surprise.
